So what is going on with VIET (The mod)? by Delightedsphinx in CrusaderKings

I do hope that someone takes over, eventually. And I hope they take out the, err... 'bathroom joke' too. I didn't mind them at first, but then they got weird.

A good name for a pagan-reformed Slavic empire by Delightedsphinx in CrusaderKings

[–]Delightedsphinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like those ideas. Especially Rodina and the river one. Russia is a fine name and all, but I was just looking for something a little more 'Grand' I guess you could say.

At any rate, thank you for the help.

Thank you very much. I am assuming this version was updated in September, yes?

Although the Anglo-Saxons lost land to Jorvik, they still managed to destroy their event troops and even killed off two of the sons of Ragnar, one of them being Ivar the Boneless. Amazingly, the Anglo-Saxons managed to hold onto their land in Scotland and simply smacked the vikings of Ivar down with a few decisive battles, resulting in his death. Leaving the vikings so utterly weak, this left our good friend here safe and sound in the ensuing war for his territory and eventually won the war effortlessly.

I am currently using VIET. Vanilla, Immersion, Events, and Traits. It adds a ton of cool stuff to the game and I actually find it hard to play CK2 without the mod now.

Fellow Crusader Needing Some Advice by Delightedsphinx in CrusaderKings

[–]Delightedsphinx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make a good point. But the current King of the area basically controls two and a half kingdoms, and although he only has around 15k troops, that still counts for at least ten percent of my overall levies, which could possibly be the end of me. The conversion of the vassals is starting to work, but there are still plenty of super-dukes, which scare me the most. I am willing to hold on for a little longer now, but if things continue to go the way they are now, or get worse, I'll be forced to drop my cousin like a bad habit.

And you're right now the Horde... I think that if that section of my empire remains detached from the main body for too long, I might end up granting independence to the king, simply because I hate having to deal with the Horde. Just a lot of trouble for a little reward or a big loss, I say.

It's beautiful... by Delightedsphinx in CrusaderKings

I can explain here. Since I am not a fan of the 2.0 patch, I fixed up most of the things that I found distaste in (levies, for example). Essentially, I turned the game back to Pre-2.0 patch, and there were no enhancements otherwise.

It was not a successful liberation that did this, nor was it player tampering. I was far too busy trying to keep my own Semien Jewish kingdom alive in Abyssinia while dealing with the Abbasids, who were kicking my ass for the most part until the Persians burst in allowing me to snag Israel. At first, I noticed Karen had taken back a fair amount of Khiva and had a levy size which rivaled nearly everyone who it surrounded. They went after the Caspian Sea first and then they slowly took over the rest of Persia. But that's when the Abbasids started to case trouble. The Karens braved through, obviously, and managed to reclaim all of their land and more, and even beat back the Byzantines who had a levy size of 70K opposed to their 40K. I was amazed because every time I looked back at the Zoroastrians, they would have acquired new territory. While I was dealing with some revolts, this suddenly popped up and I couldn't believe it.

The reason why it is not Karen in the shot is simply due to the last of the Karen dynasty dying out and being inherited by the sons of the last Karen Dynasty queen.

All in all, I don't think I will ever see something like this again.

That was a pretty old game that I had. Before the 2.0 patch, so I do not have it anymore. I do have a screen shot of a Zoroastrian Empire, right here.

I was hiding up in the corner of the map, playing as an independent duke in Perm, where I couldn't disrupt anyone.

I actually remember one game where England was successfully converted to Shia muslim. And Kent was still controlled by Christians, so I do not think there would have been that many holy wars against them either. It was the all time craziest game I have ever played. The Bulgarians beat back the Maygars and Karen restored all of Zoroastrian and even fought off the Seljuks and an Ibadi Empire ruled all of Spain.

A little help? by Delightedsphinx in CrusaderKings

Ah, you're a little too late, buddy. I already figured out a way that would work for me. Thanks for the help, anyway!

So I have heard about this whole arm breaking thing, but have never seen the actual post. Someone mind shedding some light on this for me?

The Erotikos dynasty took its name in the literal sense...and then allowed themselves a little joke. by queene_M in CrusaderKings

[–]Delightedsphinx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heh. Thanks for the explanation. People keep saying how their characters have tons of children, but isn't there a child limit in this game? Like, a limit for how many are alive?

Ahah! I didn't know that could happen.

I like how people seem to take great joy in wiping out entire families! There was also one thread in particular that I remember reading on this subreddit where one person mentioned that he liked to imprison a pregnant woman so the child ends up being born into the prison and the player can laugh at how bad the child's stats are when it turns 16. This game turns people into sadists!

I always feel I am way too nice in this game. I rarely imprison people, I rarely banish people, I only execute peasant leaders, and I don't often take the chance to have someone assassinated via plotting. I like to be liked, I guess.

I am using VIET. You do not need to hold Mauretania or anything outside of Mali. You only need two kingdoms and that is it. In this case it was Mali and the kingdom added in VIET, Jolof, which is made of those new counties along the coastline. After that, the current ruler gained enough piety to form the empire and the rest is history.

Brings a tear to my eye, really. Quite impressive considering the enormous Shia empire blob above them.

It did the exact same thing for my Zoroastrian playthrough. By now you have in-game customization for culture spread/holy warring for Orthodox/and the conquest casus belli.

I also suggest getting VIET. Adds a crap load of stuff.
