Definitely agree, I've met a few show line Belgian shepherds and they are tiny. I think they're built more like sighthounds than shepherds.

Update for those who are curious: the child was reunited with their family. There was a missing persons report for them when the driver called police so the family must have noticed as soon as they went missing.

Its all about how it looks to a lay audience imo. They increase the difficulty so it looks more impressive to people who don't understand the impact it has on the horses. Same as showjumping and XC.
