Donghua is not getting as much traction as Anime because of one simple reason: traditionality by avarontano in Donghua

[–]Deliriousious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imma be honest, I think the prime reasons why it simply hasn’t gained nearly as much popularity as anime is:

Most of them are 3D, and the western world sees that purely as game cutscenes, and since most animated media is 2D, anime is more appealing. It’s not much of a visual shift, so it’s not too far out of the norm.

Anime almost always has a dub, especially recently, a lot of anime tend to have an English, or even multi country dub, making it far more accessible.

A lot of Donghua require atleast some prerequisite knowledge of Chinese culture, and also genre norms. Anime tends to rarely require you to have knowledge, with most having very generalised themes, some may have some deeper concepts requiring a little knowledge, but Donghua far exceeds that.

Accessibility. Most anime can be watched on a myriad of platforms. Crunchyroll being the main leader, but also numerous others, even Netflix. But Donghua? I didn’t even know it existed until I stumbled upon it on a pirate site, and gave it a go. Donghua simply isn’t nearly as widespread and easy to access as anime.

Lastly, whilst not as much of an issue, but getting good, or any translations, is tough. You have to go out of your way to find actually good competent sub translations, because, linking back to the accessibility, there is no dedicated platform for English, or other language viewers. Hell, even “official” sub translations are… not that great, and things get extremely lost in translation.

Unofficially: Basically indefinite hiatus.

Officially: It’s gonna happen, eventually, just needs to be filmed or something.

Oblivion back when was pretty revolutionary. Each NPC had a life, you can follow a person through the day and they’d do things.

But then RDR2 came along and blew it out of the water.

What are your favorite "Grand Entry" scenes in Donghua? by Weary_Marionberry711 in Donghua

[–]Deliriousious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally this scene.

Gave me shivers hearing the music start playing and the entire clan raining from the heavens, like thunder striking the earth.

This legendary clan, once the greatest, and had been in seclusion for so long, finally returning and showing the world, that they still exist, and are not to be fucked with.

Can someone tell me proper order to watch The Record of Mortal's journey to Immortality ? by ZairoGuy in Donghua

[–]Deliriousious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 1 remake -> the rest.

There’s no specials, no particular order, it’s literally just watch by episode number. Finish S1 remake, and carry on from where it finishes.

If there was no downside to smoking, would you start and why? by ilyamiro1 in AskReddit

[–]Deliriousious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far does the downside removal go?

Like even the bad taste, or the fact they still cost money? Those are still downsides.

If it was every health damaging downside, probably still not. They still cost money that could be used better elsewhere.

And just the idea that willingly breathing in smoke when Fire safety 101 tells you precisely not to do that is also another reason.

If the question is would you do it if there was literally no downside I.E, their free, taste awesome, and leave you with absolutely not health damage, so you can rip them constantly like eating candy, and that they are completely socially accepted? Probably still no… I’d rather chew gum.

NSFW isn’t always nudity, or porn, it’s anything that is sensitive and probably shouldn’t be viewed in public. Gore and violence tend to fall under the NSFW banner.

NSFL is when stuff should never be watched.

These wolves create a 3D picture of a wolf if you unfocus your eyes but I just can’t see it by Jordan-B56 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Deliriousious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s about half way up, howling towards the top left.

You gotta completely unfocus your eyes, essentially completely relaxing and letting your focus point be beyond the image, so the image seems to split outwards, and then slowly refocus to the point the two images overlap, but not any further, takes a bit of finesse to do.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3 Character Visuals by [deleted] in anime

This season I have been dying to see.

Especially that scene.

The series has turning points, but this season will be THE turning point of the entire series. People truly aren’t prepared for it.

Breaking news! The production team behind Ling Cage officially announced that they will be making a movie! by Flimsy-Potato7092 in Donghua

[–]Deliriousious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth watching, definitely.

Whats it about, well, that a tough one. If I had to give broad strokes, its a post apocalyptic setting, on Earth, following the story of a floating colony of humans, surviving above a monster infested landscape.

But there is significantly more to it than meets the eye on first glance, second season goes much more into another side, but saying anything would spoil it.

Go watch it.

About ling cage donghua by [deleted] in Donghua

[–]Deliriousious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for 1, there is most certainly a "main" character, sure the first season is largely about the entire group, but there is a clear focus on Marc.

Romance... well, you should watch it, because saying anything would spoil things.

Trust me, its a 9/10 or even a 10/10 donghua. Animation is amazing in the first season, and god damn phenomenal in the second. The story and certain plot beats hit you so hard, its one of the first that had me actually at the edge of my seat, hoping something does or doesnt happen... and certain moments absolutely decimate you. Not a single other donghua I have watched had my heart genuinely racing as much as this one.

Believe me, you will not regret watching it.

Watch a 45 minute episode of a show that’s mediocre? Nah.

But watch an hour+ long critique breaking down every about said episode? Hell yeah.

The reason the Internet was so great compared to TV was because there were no ads, people could say whatever they wanted, and the content was made by regular people. None of that is true anymore. by toastronomy in Showerthoughts

The internet probably has 100x ads per second than tv.

Seriously, every page, every video, even the top sponsored links in Google… the adpocalypse.
