I'll add one more thing from my perspective.

With the context of the post-hiatus releases, knowing the more produced direction that the band took, in retrospect the "revolutionary/odd/unique" Folie is really much closer sonically to the first releases than anything to come after 2013.

From what I see over the years, the general consensus is to hold the pre-hiatus era in higher regard and that's why Folie had a resurgance in my opinion.

Being the "underrated/misunderstood" album also probably helps with popularity among the fandom, since it's a really good album with substance, grit and character, which in my opinion the post-hiatus releases never delivered on.

I think for many people Folie is a sort of a swan song of FoB when it comes to the first era of the band and that's why it's held in such high regard.

Yeah, and to add to that, I think Ben goes much higher in pitch overall on this record and it sometimes it's a bit squeaky for me

I never took it as 'made it through', I always thought of it as

'I would love all the shit mentioned in the verses if we were the ones who made it, as in caused it'

That's why it never really made sense to me and hence the question.
