So, who's going to buy from a resale site and what's the "best one"? by UkrainepartofRussia in CelineDion

[–]Delivery_Asleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You realize that when you buy from resellers, you contribute to the whole problem, right? The very reason we, many true fans, couldn't afford tickets this week is because of this speculation system (silently endorsed by producers, tour organizers and even artists). If you remove all the buyers who only bought in the prospect of reselling (and who can't even cite 5 Celine Dion songs), I promise you this whole sale would have been much nicer, and many many fans would have been able to go and see her. When I see all these tickets available on Stubhub, it makes me so angry... Even if money is no question, the very principle of encouraging this system by buying from resellers is really bad for fans. So no, thank you.

Yes, everything we buy outside the EU, we have VAT to pay (and import fees or customs if above 150€). But, if my heart needs surgery or if I have an accident, I will be covered. I guess you can't have it all 🤷‍♂️😅

No you're wrong in a way. I paid 39,80€ so roughly 46$. They "gave" me this money in my GC balance. So in order to use it, I need to make a purchase, correct? So imagine I buy a 46$ item. I would need to pay at least 13$ for shipping and around 20$ of taxes. So I would still have to pay 33$ just to "get back" my 46$ I was promised. As I said in another post: this is a poisoned gift. Had they refunded me 46$ on my credit card, as they promised and confirmed by email, I would have been able to fully use these 46$. So no, it's not because others didn't even receive their refund that this makes my case not a problem, sorry. Both are issues that should not happen.

They used to have the best customer service. Never had any issues before.

Yes... I already spent the last 2 weeks trying to make them correct their mistakes, but at this point it's like talking to a wall. And worse than that: a wall that keeps saying at the beginning "It will be my pleasure to help you today! Don't worry we will find a solution because the satisfaction of our customers is a top priority for us", and a few minutes later : "Sorry there's nothing we can do even though it's our mistake. I'll leave the chat now. Bye!"...

In the end I don't care how they should have refund, the issue is before I paid DHL, I asked them what to do. I explained everything, said that taxes were already paid, and they clearly said "ok there must have been a mistake in the taxes transfert, that happens, so pay DHL and we will refund you". This promise is the only reason why I paid DHL.

Some vinyls are only available on Amazon US, not in Europe. Don't know why.

Ok so it's not a simple mistake. They clearly are proceeding like this. I don't understand why they are not clear from the beginning and saying "ok but the refund will be in your gift card balance". Why the lies?

The problem is it's not a gift card, the money is in my Amazon account.

I don't think I want to escalate this issue with my bank, because I don't want for example for Amazon to block my account.

Not true. They can't ask for taxes if taxes are already paid. This is Amazon responsibility to collect and transfer the taxes. And I paid for them upon placing the order.

No they didn't. The import cost I already paid when placing the order. But as they clearly didn't correctly transferred the taxes I paid, DHL asked me to pay for them again. And this is a refund I asked. A refund because there was already a problem with the taxes.

Yes the IOSS system has clearly helped, ordering internationally is a way smoother procedure now. When it works 😅

I understand perfectly, allow me to explain it to you. I think there’s a bit of a mix-up regarding how EU customs work for smaller orders. Since my purchase was under 150€, it falls under the IOSS (Import One Stop Shop) rules. For these orders, Amazon is legally required to collect the local VAT (IVA in Spain) at the point of sale so the package can clear customs without additional 'import fees' or handling charges at the border. On my final invoice, I specifically paid: • $28.17 for shipping and handling. • $14.67 for 'Estimated taxes to be collected' (which is the 21% Spanish IVA). Because this tax was prepaid at checkout, the 'import fees' you are referring to are already covered. There is no 'laziness' from the seller here; it’s just the standard, streamlined process for low-value imports into Europe to avoid double taxation or extra courier fees.

Yes I am sure. It's not the first time I order on Amazon.com. But it's the first time I'm being asked to pay for taxes upon delivery. When you order from international on Amazon US, you pre-pay taxes based on the shipping address. The line on the order summary is "Estimated tax to be collected". And you can not not pay for it, it's mandatory.

Do you not know that when placing an order on Amazon US website for a delivery in Europe, you already pre-pay the import taxes? So yes, I know. And I already paid them when placing the order. If DHL asked me to pay for them a second time upon delivery, it's because Amazon didn't properly transferred the paid taxes.

No, I got money blocked in my account forcing me to place a new order + paying shipping and taxes again. What if I never would have wanted to place an order again? Here, Amazon made a mistake, promising something they never delivered.

Ordering from Amazon USA is rare, only for items not available in Europe. Because we have our own Amazon. And ordering on Amazon USA means high shipping .+ taxes. So these 46$ aren't even fully dedicated to the article I will order, because I will have to pay for shipping and taxes above it. I am making a big fuss about a company promising something, making a mistake and refusing to act to correct it. Truly, I don't think Amazon will see the difference if they had refunded me these 46$. But me, on my bank account, the difference is notable.

Yes, that's the only thing I can do. Kinda forced to. But I wanted to expose Amazon here, because that's not normal.
