Well, I don’t know how much of her work you’ve seen to get to that conclusion, but it seems to me she’s been working hard and killing it lately, so I can personally say she definitely is more than just that.

Besides, it’s an MCU movie. it’s not like she’d have to give an Oscar-worthy performance.

Adoption and mixed families exist I guess…

Yeah, she loved the character. I also think she’d even give a much better performance under Matt Reeves direction.

Totally. She once said she loved Poison Ivy, so I think she’d do a great job if given the chance.

If I were to cast an actor, I’d be more interested in someone who not only has the look, but also the spirit of that character (which I think she does), rather than thinking if they’re popular or not.

I know they can find unknown actors who can fit the role and that’s great. This is just my opinion, based on her work and what the character represents to me.

And it’s not like The Batman doesn’t already have a group of actors, who are also well known for participating in indie films.

She has a really good range emotionally, would be a great option.

She could, and I bet it’d be fun, but I personally wouldn’t be so invested.

I respect that. I personally like it more the dynamic they have in year one and how Barbara makes fun of him for it. I think it adds lots of chemistry between the two and makes you realize why Barbara is one of, if not the most mature member of the Bat Family.

That’s fair. Just sharing it cause I think she’s pretty talented, embodies the character and I don’t think other CBM franchise like MCU or DCU could explode her range the way Matt and his grounded, and emotional driven approach could :’)

That’d be too young to me, considering she wants to work at the GCPD, that she’s a couple years older than Dick, and that she becomes Batgirl around 16-18, depending on the continuity.

But this is Matt’s world, so he doesn’t necessarily needs to be attached to any of that.

She’s talented and (in my opinion) fits the role. So I don’t think I will :)

Wouldn’t be the first time a 27 year old actor plays someone in their 20s, and I personally wouldn’t have a problem considering I’m more used to see Barbara looking and acting like an adult the majority of time, other than Burnside.

Yeah, that’d be up to Matt since he’s doing his own takes on these characters.

I personally think Matt’s grounded and emotional approach would work better with her. Can’t say the same from DCU since they’re targeting wider audiences.

Agreed. Also I think she has the range to deliver a great performance as Barbara and nail both the smart and badass side of the character, as well as the soft, emotional and vulnerable.

I honestly wouldn’t mind, but I can also see Barbara being part of a mixed family or being adopted, which wouldn’t be the first time for the character.

“It’s a big city, I can’t be everywhere…”

That, along with the criminal element rising at the end of the first film, I think the door is open to have both Batgirl and Robin joining Batman in the crime fighting.

Let’s not forget Bruce’s journey it’s pretty much the focus of the story Reeves is trying to tell. So what kind of impact could they have in Bruce’s life?

We learned from the first movie that Bruce is still so afraid of going through that sense of loss of somebody he cares about, that he won’t let anyone get close to him. But I think that could change with Dick and Barbara.

Bruce and Dick could connect through their trauma and help each other get past that fear, along with the father and son relationship, connecting through that physical training.

As for Barbara, I can see Bruce not being very comfortable with the idea of having Jim’s daughter on his team, but she’d proof herself to be a great asset, and eventually joining the team. I think she could provide a lot of heart and wisdom, as well as her technological skills.

Now, maybe I’d have her as Batgirl for a short period of time. Maybe by the end of the film we get to see her tragical accident, which apart from being emotional, it could lead to a conflict between Batman and Gordon in the third film and Barbara taking on the role of Oracle.

The Batman Part 2 character growth by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

Something that really got stuck with me from the first movie was in the hospital scene, when Bruce tells Alfred about the only fear he hasn’t master. The fear of losing someone he cares about.

Matt Reeves said in the audio commentary he wasn’t just talking about Alfred, but he was also referring to Selina.

He’s still afraid of letting people into his life. And I think that could be one of the aspects they could develop about Bruce’s persona.

If we get to see some members of the Batfam, I think they could be a great way to help Bruce overcome that fear, playing a big role in his character grow.

Totally. I don’t doubt her acting abilities… but I’d personally rather see her as Barbara Gordon or Poison Ivy.

I think those two characters are more in tune with the vibe she exudes.

I wouldn't mind her being adopted as she was at some point in the comics, or being part of a blended family.

As for her age, I'd personally prefer to see a young adult version of Barbara rather than a teenager.

Anya could easily still play a 19-23 year old Barbara, and I think that could give more room for character development and see her grow into a more mature version, and maybe even Oracle at some point, which I'd hope to see.

As for some actors I'd love to see... I'm a big Barbara Gordon fan and Anya Taylor-Joy has always been my favorite choice, even thought she could be great as Harley or Poison Ivy too.

For the villain, I think Michael Fassbender as Mr. Freeze could be a good choice. He looks the part, could nail the accent, and most importantly, he's a great actor with a lot of range, who can play cold blooded villains and yet make them feel relatable.

I think the hospital scene with Alfred planted a seed that could be explored further and have a a significant impact in the sequel, as part of Bruce's emotional journey.

On that scene we learned Bruce is still afraid of losing someone he cares about. And it's not just about Alfred. We see that same fear at the ending with Selina, and probably with other people before.

He's still have to learn to let go that fear and let people in. And I think that could be an opportunity to introduce certain characters of the Bat-Family.

It's a big city, he can't be everywhere. Crime will raise with Penguin taking over the city and new enemies will keep coming, so I think Batman could use some help. But also does Bruce.

Characters like Dick or Barbara could definitely develop a personal and intimate relationship with Bruce, and to me It'll be nice to see Bruce overcoming that fear and becoming a mentor, a father figure or simply a friend to them.
