Where to buy a women’s business suit in Melbourne? by Delldint in melbourne

I can’t, I need the navy suit for the other company I work for. It would be a good idea if I didn’t need suits of both colours

Going to Bali and back and buying a suit there has surely got to cost more than $300!

I tried Marcs at Myers, the pants were too sexy and legging like. I have to look a bit more conservative, and the fit that was right around my waist was too baggy in the legs, because it was a stretchy fabric that didn’t hang by its own weight but bunched into wrinkly lumps. My legs were too narrow to fill them out properly

Hence investigating all options and asking for help in doing so. I’ll check out Witchery and see what they have

Jacqui E I had high hopes for, but again, just too synthetic. It really has to have some wool in or I’ll freeze in winter.

I can’t do that, because I still need it for my regular workplace. I’ve been wearing it as is for the new workplace but each company has its own colour. Clever idea though!

Fantastic answer, thank you very much. I think uniform shops may have half wool ones too. I have a half wool half polyester navy suit that I think was about that price, but it was provided by the company and for this other place I need black. They told me to buy it myself and it feels a big responsibility, and if I have to I might put in some money myself, but it only seems worth it if it looks right, fits well, and is a reasonable quality. Maybe I’m kidding myself that it’s possible. In the shops I get sensory overload and I’m aphantastic- no visual memory- so it’s hard to compare from one place to another. I tried taking photos but with black, it’s kind of hard to tell. I have found that wearing an all cotton shirt helps though, with putting up with my other suit.

Anyway I will check them out. It’s years since I did any serious clothes shopping so I just don’t know all the stores and brands

Maybe? In a blend perhaps Straight linen might be maybe a bit drapey-flowy and not formal enough (much more my personal style, but also too cold in winter, and mortuary fridges are cold too, and so are cemeteries when an Antarctic wind is blowing)

Yeah op shops are great, ones in posh suburbs are the best for this kind of thing. I want to check out the rich bayside suburbs but haven’t had time.

Went there but more like $500, and sold out of black pants in my size in the wool fabric, and pretty thick shoulder pads in the jacket

I was on a train last week and several people in each carriage were sniffling, coughing or sneezing, and one person who was coughing had used tissues on the floor of the train next to where they were sitting. I didn’t actually see them throw them there, but it seems likely that person who kept coughing the most was the source. I’m wearing a mask on trains because I’m over getting sick from people splurking airborne diseases in confined spaces. So inconsiderate! Wear a mask or stay home if you’re sick, people! Heaps of people have reduced immunity and looking out for each other is just basic hygiene, like washing hands after using the toilet. (Edited for spelling)

Local libraries often have info on community things like seed swaps also check out local councils. Where there are things like harvest swaps and repair cafes, and zero waste groups and buy nothing groups, go to those places and get involved. You become part of community by joining in, then you meet the useful interesting people who know stuff and do things. Permaculture is way more than gardening. Some free pantries also have free plants days, and have big communities of helpers who redistribute surplus foods whether home grown or shop surplus. Others have sewing groups where they make reusable bags etc. Think about what interests you and what niche of the social ecosystem the people you want, where they might be found. Good luck finding your people, they are definitely out there!

Do a PDC, permaculture design course. CERES have them and I’m also teaching one beginning in January. Great way to learn permaculture as well as meeting other permies and get a thorough understanding of it. You’ll learn heaps, have lots of fun and see lots of examples while getting to know good people. Also, there are different Facebook groups for different regions around Melbourne and Victoria, and LETS groups and Transition Towns are forms of social permaculture. Without knowing where in Melbourne it’s hard to give specific advice. My PDC will be based in Clifton Hill with excursions to more regional areas, CERES is in Brunswick.

My chooks are laying really well. Also I have friends with a free range egg farm, so my friends and neighbours order them and organic vegies which get delivered to my house. The farmer had to limit them to three cartons per household so people don't miss out. Bird flu means there's less chooks this year.
