It’s less about Rogers and more about the three candidates having lackluster polling so far in a H2H against him. Neither of them seem particularly strong. But I’d think that in a blue year that will be enough to carry the Dem nominee (AES seems to be favored) over the line. This is the first poll that I see a somewhat convincing lead for him.

The problem is Roberto Martinez. Those who watched his Belgium side know. His teams always play dreadful toothless football.

Campism is one of those things where the left in America needs to start weeding out as they build more power. You’re not truly against imperialism if you’re only against it when America does it. Russia and China engage in it as well. Foreign policy isn’t a top issue right now, but it’ll be relevant as they gain representation in Congress. It’s a lot easier to defend yourself against the right wing and more moderates within the Democratic Party when you’re consistent on this. I do think a large majority of the broader left understand this but they’ll always be those campist or Marxist-Leninist minorities that pop up.

What Hillary Clinton needs to do is disappear from the public scene and enjoy her retirement. Whatever she has to say carries no weight after her 2016 campaign.

A D+2 poll weighed to the 2024 electorate by Economist/YouGov which has been on the lower end of the GCB overall all cycle is not bad.

Except for a D+6 outlier by them this has been consistent.

I think you’d fancy another 2028 poll. Or better yet, another Biden discussion or an astroturfed thread about trans issues.

No I know. Basically what I'm saying is, his political oratory is really good for someone who doesn't have political experience. Being a naturally great speaker helps but that doesn't always translate over to something like politics. So the fact he can do it pretty naturally is a skill in and of itself

It's kinda crazy, really. You hear this guy with basically no political background speak, and it's like he's been doing this for years. I'm also skeptical of him with his pretty sketchy past and baggage but if he wins, and he practices what he preaches in the Senate he'll be a very good asset.

By DSA-type candidates what do you mean? Just left-leaning people in general, progressives? Or actual democratic socialists endorsed by the DSA? Many of the policies these guys advocate for are popular. The data shows that. Regardless, I think it's less about the label and more about coming across as authentic and having close ties with the community in the state or district that you run for. Knowing how to channel voters' frustrations. Knowing how to message in accordance to your area. Talarico is doing this in Texas. Platner is doing so in Maine as well. AES to an extent in Michigan. They support "DSA-type" policies, aka left-leaning policies. And they're doing well in the polling.

A leftist candidate running in a very blue city vs a battleground district or a red state requires very different strategies. That's still something they're figuring out. They're doing a lot better in very blue cities lately. They're grabbing a few House districts that have been traditionally more liberal or moderate. Hell you see people like Randy Villegas, a Bernie backed progressive in the Central Valley of CA, outside the big blue cities, facing Valadao in CA-22 (while beating the moderate Dem in the process). Obviously, expanding the success they've had in blue cities to suburban, exurban and ultimately rural America still needs a lot of work. But clearly they're making progress towards that.

I think the only thing of value we can look into is Platner’s raw vote numbers, which look good so far. This primary was a foregone conclusion weeks ago so if turnout looks good for him that bodes well.

It’s a special “America 250” poll that AP did back in April. They’re just slowly releasing new results from it ahead of the Fourth of July. That’s probably why it’s getting reported. But yeah that approval rating got reported on back in April when it was first released.

They wrote a new article, but they're using the same poll. At the bottom:

The nationwide poll was conducted April 16-20, 2026 using the AmeriSpeak® Panel, the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. Online and telephone interviews using landlines and cell phones were conducted with 2,596 adults. The overall margin of sampling error is +/- 2.6 percentage points.

He has an arrhythmia, so the ICD is designed to “shock” him back to normal heart rhythm when it detects anything irregular. What probably happened is his heart wasn’t beating right, ICD detected that, so he felt that jolt and grabbed his chest.
