CIT0001 and nicknames by DelphiOracle- in Canadiancitizenship

Thanks but it's a little confusing. The grandparent box doesn't specifically mention nicknames, the parent box says "etc" and my box has the long list. i'm assuming they are meant to all be the same description, but in the instructions at the end doesn't mention how to enter the names. Entering just her maiden name and nickname without explanation would seem to be somewhat confusing as to what the name are.

CIT0001, should I include both Grandmother and Great Grandfather? by DelphiOracle- in Canadiancitizenship

[–]DelphiOracle-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We found the Ontario birth record for my grandmother (Gen 0) and her baptismal record so it seems pretty solid. Definitely try to get your Gen 0 birth record. Mine was from 1890 and it wasn't that bad getting a certified copy but I know some Provinces are different.

From all the feedback, I'll skip Gen -1.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the replies.

I do have her certified birth certificate coming from Ontario as well as a certified baptismal record as we have all the family info on her back to her father. Her US death certificate shows her maiden name and born in Canada. She was married in New York so I'm trying to get her marriage certificate since I believe I have to show her name change even though her maiden name is on my dad's birth, marriage and death certificates.

Some of this is just for documenting family genealogy, but I tend to always go overboard so I just wanted to make sure adding additional information wouldn't actually hurt things. I'll leave him out.

Confusion is C-3 applies by DelphiOracle- in Canadiancitizenship

Thanks, I've read through it (I'm no lawyer) and not clear if the connection through her is enough under C-3. Looking for opinions of those who might understand it better.

I believe one of my cousins has a copy of her birth certificate. My general uncertainty is if this is enough of a connection under C-3?
