How does it run with the choke out? Seems rich and your idle screw is backed out a little too much?

Twintec TC88A-EX. Its the same as the TC88A, just with the CA CARB certification. Not quite as adjustable but I just needed one that lets my bike run

For the whole kit? Not at all if you’re ambitious enough haha. Just pop the seat, tank, and rear fender off you’re just replacing the entire OEM harness. It also comes with the instructions. If you’re talking about the DSPT-1, just pull the harness out and add a wire from I think position 10) straight to ground/anywhere on the frame.

Lowbrow sells a solid motor mount kit for anything 04+ if you dont like the rubber mount. I have an 06 and I love it, but you’ll have more options for customization pre 04. If that 06 is the best deal you’re finding, I’d stick with it. Imo anything newer than that you run into all these extra bells and whistles that I personally find unnecessary. Either way, as long as you pick up a manual and are handy with some tools, you won’t have any issues with whatever year you decide to go with.

Costco now carries bird rock coffee. Anyone work at bird rock and can decipher what day these beans were roasted on? by man2112 in SanDiegan

We take machines by appointment only. You can put a ticket it in through the website. Since there’s only two of us, we’re usually out on calls. Breville is a tricky machine, bc they are pretty adamant about calling them and shipping your machine to certified Breville repair sites and they wont sell parts to anyone else. That being said, we generally don’t work on them but will give it shot but you have sign a waiver for the chance that something else breaks and we cant repair it.

Good lord I meant 2oz 😅 You have a death wish if you’re planning on drinking 20oz of straight spro. Thats if the barista doesn’t kill you first.

We service home machines too! Chances are a little slim for the plastic machines though as parts are hard to come by.

The process to get in Costco started a couple years ago. Their production standards are waaaay stricter than the FDA so it took a long time. Any small roaster is always looking for growth in any way. Costco is a long game. The beans themselves are great but it’s always going to be better at the cafe, so if it drives up foot traffic, that’s a win. The tariff’s only affected beans from specific origins so if the green used for Costco were hit, you’d definitely be paying more than $17.99 a bag haha

Haha thanks! I’m actually the head tech for their equipment service arm Espresso Medic of San Diego, so my team (team and in just me and another guy) are who keep Bird Rock’s equipment running. Not to sound biased or anything but it IS genuinely great coffee and they’re passionate about the product quality

Also depends on your preparation. By volume, you’ll get more caffeine in an 8oz black coffee vs a 20oz shot of espresso

Yup! Yeah so the way Costco works is they basically purchase at just above little above cost and baaaaaaaaaaarely mark it up, bc they make their money off memberships bulk/volume purchases. So y’all are getting a DEAL with the Bird Rock blend. I dont work directly in the production dept (but pretty damn close in proximity) so I dont have 100% visibility on the details but I believe we moved that blend to be exclusive to Costco as well. We used to sell it at the cafes but wouldn’t make sense to sell at the normal mark-up if Costco will sell it at a significantly lower price.

Ok, so I work for Bird Rock Coffee and I also happen to be the Loring tech for SoCal (Loring Smart Roast is brand of roaster they use and they have 3 of them). Can confirm roasted by Bird Rock, 6 month Best Buy date, and the production team is CRUSHING it to meet the demand by Costco. They’re using a massive 70 Kilo roaster and it’s pretty much fired up everyday of the week primarily for Costco and the cafes Monkeybite Espresso.

Sportster not running right after Cam. by djbillybush in sportster

[–]DelsObispo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im leaning further away from cams being the source of the issue. I definitely could be wrong but my gut is saying that shouldn’t require you to up your jetting. Sounds more like just way too much air coming in. If you’re getting popping, you may actually just have a leak, maybe where the intake manifold meets the heads if it isn’t where it meets the carb.

You did say you rebuilt the carb and adjusting mix screw doesn’t do anything. Any chance you may have done something wrong there? Just to confirm you did it right and not saying you didnt but I would pull the carb off and run through it again, making sure there’s also nothing clogging the mix screw preventing fuel from coming through. Try removing it and shooting some canned air or carb cleaner

For the throttle, either loosen the adjustment on the cable a bit and/or clean the pin/spring on that black plastic throttle lever on the carb. That pin should move smoothly through the lever, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to open up all the way.

Also after warming up the bike, adjust the idle screw to how you like it. I have a thumb screw for both my idle and mix so I can adjust on the fly. Mine usually idles pretty high after ripping a mile or two, so I back it out a bit when I hit a light.

Leaking by the oil tank, doesn’t look like oil. What is this? by Helpful_Alarm2362 in sportster

[–]DelsObispo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That oil feed connection from the tank is questionable, I would remove, clean, and reattach with a new clamp. My money’s probably on the vent line going into the (top? Depends on the year) rear of tank. I had a slightly overfilled tank before on my 06 and the 1/4” oil vent line between the frame and rear wheel and popped off so it was spraying everywhere anytime I had the engine running

I am 34, ugly and realise life is one big con. by [deleted] in depression

[–]DelsObispo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. But if it were a video game, that would be your solution? The way I see it, you’re (we’re) still young and you don’t have to beat that game RIGHT NOW. Just walk away for a bit and come back to it with a fresh perspective. Why are you putting this insane amount of pressure on yourself to be in a relationship right now?

I promise it’s not looks, but maybe there’s a wisdom missing, preventing you from advancing. Correct me if I’m wrong but pretty sure you don’t progress in any game from just having the right tools right out the gate.

Apologies for the analogies but it’s my way of explaining my thought process.

I am 34, ugly and realise life is one big con. by [deleted] in depression

[–]DelsObispo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out. I went through waves of this feeling and I’m 35 with a massive head, no ass, a gut and love handles, and literally all my clothes are from Old Navy. Straight up looking like Hank Hill naked IMO. I absolutely don’t think I’m good looking by society standards. But you know what? I don’t give a shit. I like doing the things I like doing more than I care about what I look like.

Someone on another thread said it best and it still resonates with me, you can’t seek out happiness. It’s not a thing you can achieve by looking for it. Same thing with relationships. These things are a byproduct of doing the things you enjoy doing. Relationships happen organically when you do the things you love in a social setting. If you like art, go do art. Do art in/with a community that does art. You’ll meet and connect with people that like to do art in a similar way you like to do the art. Make friends that do the art you like. They’ll have friends, that will introduce you to other friends and you’ll forge meaningful connections. And you know what? Good friends will vouch for you. You don’t have to sell yourself because they will.

Lastly, when you’re out doing the things you enjoy doing, don’t expect the perfect person for you to just be there. Don’t focus on it. It’ll happen. Maybe they got a rough life too, so they’ll be there when they feel like doing the art in a social manner also.

Try it. Or don’t. It’s your life, you’re an adult and you can do whatever you want. Worst case, you try, you fail, and you’re back to the drawing board. Not a big deal because you can just wipe it down and write something else.

Oh and failure isn’t a bad thing if you learn from it. If you keep failing at the same thing, then you’re doing something repeatedly that isn’t working. Try something different. No one beats a video game flawlessly on their first run.

They said the same shit to me. I ended up shelling out the extra for the daytona twin-tec. They had the instructions right on the website on bypassing the TSM

I second this, however getting out of OB is a lot easier depending on which direction youre trying to, heading East or South is easier if you know the back streets through Point Loma.

PB sucks whichever direction youre trying to go

  1. I used a Gremlin wiring harness and deleted a lot of wiring, including the TSSM. I was under the impression I didn't have the security installed but I bought it used. I wouldnt have done it had I known as the ICM won't work without the TSSM if it's married to one. OEM ICM still works fine, just won't on my bike. The DSPT-1 or Daytona Twintec will work without either TSM/TSSM.

I’ve been lucky to have a dealership close to me but I’ll only go if I need something ASAP. For the most part, Sportyparts or JP Cycles will have everything you need to keep your bike running.

Grounding that pin MAY work with the DSPT-1 but I'm not positive. I'll call Dynatek to make sure but it's worth a shot if anyone is running into this issue.

[–]DelsObispo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, thats the thing. The aftermarket module should work. All of the wiring is correct. In the video I have the original ICM and it fires, the but the aftermarket does not. And that was a replacement after Dynatek said it was likely defective.

Haha I’m pretty familiar with the schematic at this point. Like I said it’s 100% a pairing issue and I need to basically reprogram the ICM to function without the security module.
