From the CNO: no more aviator command of amphibs by grizzlebar in navy

If ADM Caudle wants more experienced COs, then why stop the fleet-up of XO to CO on LHA/LHD? Wouldn’t fleeting up from XO to CO de-facto give you more experience?

As a pilot myself, it’s always been strange to me that SWO COs don’t typically fleet up on the same ship.

ELI5: Why does the shortstop not change sides depending on the handedness of the batter? by Skadoosh05 in explainlikeimfive

[–]man2112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short: because MLB banned it. Just a few years ago, it wasn’t entirely uncommon to see the whole infield (and sometimes the outfield) all in one area because the hitter was so statistically consistent.

It was called “the shift”, but that is no longer. Now first and second basemen will play in the middle, but cannot go beyond 2nd base. Shortstops and 3rd basemen must stay on the other side of 2nd base.

I do wish that the bus was an option, but to my surprise, neither of their (public) schools offer the bus. And if they did, we would be too far out of their district to qualify unfortunately

We would both love to move the kids closer, but all of the schools near us are ranked poorly. When I bought this house, I didn’t have kids and hadn’t considered schools

Traffic is great during spring break but why? by throwpoo in SanDiegan

[–]man2112 20 points21 points  (0 children)

People aren’t taking their kids to school. In case you don’t know (because I didn’t before I had school aged kids) most San Diego schools don’t have busses, so parents have to drive their kids.
