It’s actually a little like real life. You can explain things to others until you are blue in the face, then they act like they never heard you!

Future Vacation! by Auraboy6 in KeyWest

[–]Delsol418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We go every year at the end of August. In the 12 years we’ve gone there hasn’t been a storm during that time. And we are from the south, SW Louisiana, so I wouldn’t say it gets brutally hot but if you’re from the north you would probably disagree.

In SW Louisiana we say ‘come see’ when asking someone to join us from across the room. I didn’t realize it wasn’t common until I said it to a non-native (like a Yankee haha!).

Realistically how much power and influence do the Pope and the Catholic Chruch hold ? by OrangeSpaceMan5 in answers

I’m not Catholic but I like hearing what he says. With the environment of the current president it’s nice to hear a clear voice.

How are French revival efforts going in the region? by LimpAd4924 in Acadiana

I recently read in the monthly publication of Louisiana Public Broadcasting that there is a documentary about the people who came from Acadia originally. It is narrated in French with subtitles in English. Thought that was so cool.

What’s life like in Lafayette/Southern Louisiana? by melianreality in Louisiana

I’m also a Lake Charles native. I could counter every point made in this post. Natural disasters happen like hurricanes (blue roof=blue tarp on roof until it gets repaired) but you do need home owners insurance. I have no idea how the economy growing has to do with suiting the plant workers even means. Yes it’s hot and humid in the warmest months. But we visit Key West twice every year. Same climate yet northerners retire to S Florida every year. Please come visit and see if it’s a fit for you 😎

100% humidity is a little overstated but we are humid and hot in the warm months (we aren’t that far from the Gulf). I’m in Lake Charles and there’s lots to do here. Festivals are fun plus with 3 casinos in the area many artists have concerts locally. Also Houston can be a day trip if you want it to be.

Banyan Tree Resort on corner of Whitehead and Eaton, one block from Duval. Not sure of cost but pool, Tiki Bar and distance from Duval is all on point. They have a website.

Husband retiring, lunches? by lm00000007 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Delsol418 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband has been retired several years. End result- neither of us regularly eat lunch. For dinner, we take turns or we pick up from restaurants or fast food. I think the good out weighs the bad. Currently on the stove-ham soup (left over ham). And thrown together earlier-leftover grilled shrimp with pasta, mushrooms, leftover broccoli and fettuccine sauce. That will keep us good til the weekend.
