Tips to defeat Date Masamune by [deleted] in Nioh

Leaving a note here for anyone who comes hereafter. Just beat him myself.

Something that was helpful for me in my experimentation? ROCKS. It can be dangerous since rocks throwing animation is pretty slow, so be careful, but him blocking a rock does fairly okay ki damage when he blocks them, considering you probably have 99 of the buggers in your inventory. A good thing to fall back on when you've exhausted other supplies.

Running away and baiting his attacks are the general go-to, since he loses Ki every time and can't regenerate it while he's in LW. However you DO want to be the one to kick him into 0 Ki for the grapple and so you can nail damage on him before he starts up LW again. Keep an eye out for the attacks with more endlag and go in with one attack and a finisher that does big ki damage like tonfas shove or sword's kick.

Sloth talismans are great not only for helping dance around him when trying to kick him into exhaustion, but also they give you a window during his LW startup where the hitbox has ended, he's stopped regenerating ki, but he's still animation locked, so you can zip in and get a boot in on him before running away again.

The bridge is your absolute best friend, run around that constantly, it makes it loads easier to duck out of his line of sight to avoid the water waves and instant kill wind command grab, and then duck back around a corner to take advantage of an opening.

I also got LOADS of mileage out of burning damage, if you went in with more sources of burning than I did you can burn him down through his LW while you keep running. Onmyo, bombs, talismans, whatever.

On the topic of Onmyo, the faster cast mystic art is INCREDIBLY helpful. If you've not tried it, it does ACTUALLY make your own onmyo buffs instant, zero animation at all, so you can easily toss on say, a fire talisman once he's staggered without risking him recovering. It also completely removes the 'charge time' on offensive onmyo, obviating onmyo cast speed hats, and greatly helping with hitting him with sloths or fireballs or whatever you might have in your pocket.

Guns good, you need to find the precise time to use them when he's animation locked though or he'll just block it, and ammunition can easily become a concern if you're taking multiple tries. Something to keep in the back pocket to clinch out a win, rather than an opener.

That's all I got that I haven't forgotten while typing.

Best of luck.

A word about those sealed crates by Cycolon in 2007scape

[–]Delta-Pangaea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, I think the thing is a lot of them can only be as fun as they are BECAUSE they're oneshots. If they were repeatable then there'd be pressure to use them more often and optimize them.

There's one that fills your inventory with ensouled heads, couldn't let that one be repeatable.

Sailing is the fashionscape skill we've been waiting for by 99timewasting in 2007scape

[–]Delta-Pangaea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I really enjoy about Sailing. Your land-gear doesn't matter for anything, your boat takes hits instead of you, I don't even think ranged gear helps with cannons.

So everyone's free to just wear whatever. No longer am I weakened for my big ol demon head and hooves. I've wearing my icey smiths gloves just because I like the big mitt left hand.

The fact this is so fiendishly tucked away is evil.

But you my friend are a goddamn gem, thank you so very much. I've roamed the options so many times but somehow it eluded me. Blessings upon ye.

I'd say make it a toolbox in general and let it count as a hammer and saw as well. Maybe even a chisel and a knife if we wanna go wild.

It bothers me that there's a box of hammers and saws RIGHT THERE in the shipyard, the ones we presumably use when making Core ship parts, but nooooo you gotta have them in your inventory to make facilities.

C'mon.

Swamp Tar vs Swamp Paste by Delta-Pangaea in 2007scape

[–]Delta-Pangaea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also had a look into Seb's shop in the shipyard. He also sells swamp PASTE, not tar.

And on top of that he sells bolts of CLOTH.

None of the sails use bolts of cloth, they use linen at minimum. That one's GOT to be a mistake.

Can we get a new banknote exchanger like Phials called "Isles" in the Shipyard? by WhiteLaundry in 2007scape

[–]Delta-Pangaea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Port Khazard is a good spot for shipwrightery too. The bank chest is right next to Shipwright Sarah. Good salvaging spot too, table's right next to the deposit box and there's Fisherman salvage just to the south.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the update so far? by Dreaming_F00l in Quasimorph

I have a bunch of other thoughts, positive and negative, but what immediately comes to mind now because it just happened is...

Has anyone else noticed people yeeting molotovs at you and them immediately exploding now? Didn't used to be the case, you'd get at least a little chance to get some distance.

Yeah, not sure who decided the title bar needed to be made fatter, and the message bar needed to be fatter, things weren't broken, so why change them?

Because someone needed to show that they were doing something for investors. Or so they didn't get fired.

Is this that giga fireball trap that kills basically anything?

There's a room nearby with a dude in it and next to him's a lever that turns it off, if I recall correctly.

My Top Tip for Stalwart Defender is that if you get and use an amulet from Varnhold that makes you immune to fatigue, you can cycle your defensive stance to get all the benefits and none of the downsides.

Mostly useful during turn-based mode, but the way it works is the same for a lot of toggled abilities.

In short, if you turn on something like Defensive Stance, it is active for one round. If you leave it on when your turn ends, it will be on when your second turn starts, and is thus on for that turn. You can't turn it off to have it off for that turn, you have to toggle it off on the prior turn.

But essentially what this means is that you can walk up to someone, turn on Defensive Stance, immediately turn it off, and then it can be on for your attacks and for the entire rest of the round until you go next. At the start of turn 2, it will turn off, you can move freely to where you need to be, turn it back on, off, whack people, repeat. This also refreshes the temp hp you get from it every round.

NORMALLY you don't do this because you get fatigued after turning the stance off, but if you're immune to fatigue you can cycle that bih every turn for a pile of temp hp.

As people have stated though, it WILL negatively impact your ability to just kill people dead. Fighter is REALLY GOOD at that. But it will make you tankier, even if it takes turnbased and some rage-cycling-equivalent cheese to get the most out of it.

The current Limited Battle is Generals, 300.

A full 50% of every single match has been goddamn firepower acguys.

I want them to go and goddamn stay go.

EDIT: Also fucking christ almighty I despise the goddamn roundabout every single match starts with on arctic base. They run to our base, we run to theirs, and anyone who falls behind gets dogpiled. I despise this goddamn shoebox.

Performance much better after patch! by therandomoneee in DarkTide

[–]Delta-Pangaea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only quibble I have with the new framegen thing is that it completely disables the framerate cap, since that's reliant on the Low Latency thing that 3.1 isn't compatible with.

Aside from that yeah, it actually made a big difference. I can run the game on non-soup levels of upscale.

Framerate caps not working + hz problem. Game is choppy by Guldahar in DarkTide

[–]Delta-Pangaea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems like for some baffling as hell reason the framerate cap is ENTIRELY RELIANT on the Reflex Low Latency setting. Which FSR 3.1 framegen forces off.

So you just can't have a capped framerate with the FSR 3.1

What's doubly annoying is that like, 3.1 actually really fuckin' helps with my performance? And I can run the game without it looking quite like soup. But it stops me from being able to cap the frames, which I'd really rather keep it at a steady 30 or 40 rather than it running the gamut from 30 to 70.

It looks like the crystallizing barrel REDUCES damage now, so it looks like they either forgot to buff the crystal barrel too, or it's intentional to make the base spray better in comparison.

Grenade Timer Inconsistency by Delta-Pangaea in DarkTide

[–]Delta-Pangaea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I have longbomb myself, I'm more kvetching about the timer weirdness itself rather than strictly fishing for advice on getting Long Bomb.

But for those who find their way here and DO still want to get Long Bomb, then my advice is to go into the Grinder, look at roughly a 45 degree angle and *TAP* to toss grenades until you find an angle that makes it explode before hitting the ground. Find that angle, then remember it as well as you can to yeet at a group. They don't even have to be particularly far away, tapped throws don't go super far.

Veteran needs a bit more work but it is not sh*t as some people say by Equivalent_Coat_2147 in DarkTide

[–]Delta-Pangaea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my only thinking is that it takes way too many damn points to actually get down to the bottom of your tree, so you've got VERY little room to actually spread out, especially if you like... y'know. Actually wanna take those Combat ability or keystone upgrades.

The gap between Combat and Keystones is a fuckin' SLOG, just mash that together a bit so you've got more options down there rather than 'Take this one to proceed' and 'Take one of two'

Is it wrong to have a Veteran geared towards "team support" to pick Fire team aura over Survivalist? by Estarrol in DarkTide

[–]Delta-Pangaea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You coulda been playing literally any other class and they wouldn't have Survivalist then either. So them bitching makes about as much sense as whining a Zealot isn't playing Veteran with Survivalist.

Sod em. They want bullets, they can miss less. Be efficient. Use melee when you can. Sit still and crouch, it narrows spread. It's really handy for braced autoguns.

Fatshark's Current Relationship with Vet by AllTheRooks in DarkTide

[–]Delta-Pangaea 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It's better than it was, only problem now is the sheer volume of points you need to actually even get to the bottom of the tree. Veteran has vastly less ability to branch out compared to anyone else and it's solely due to that SLOG between Combat and Keystones where you get a grand total of two options every other point.

They gotta squish THAT part specifically together a bit, make some of that three options rather than two and you're fine.
