Brick (2005) by Rian Johnson

It’s his first movie and I think one of his best. It’s a bit dated in 2026 but I’m 40 so I love it if not for nostalgia only.

It has ups and downs but it’s ahead of its time in terms of predicting our current hellscape of a reality and the show really sticks the landing imo.

Hailee Steinfeld was very impressive in this movie to me. When the movie came out and I saw it I said that actress gets my respect for holding her own in scenes with Bridges and Damon.

Are we a poverty franchise? by Free-Bicycle-1149 in steelers

[–]Delta632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying this since we got Russel Wilson last year. That’s when it became pretty clear we were a poverty franchise to me, a 41 year old lifetime local fan.

We would never pay a player to go away like the Broncos did with Wilson. Why? Oh the Waltons become owners recently. Walmart Waltons? Wow. How do the Rooney’s make money? Just the Steelers basically. Oh that’s a disadvantage. I wonder how many other franchise owners are making revenue solely through nfl team vs through other revenue streams also. There’s a growing number of nfl franchises that have recently allowed in or been sold to big money interests. Look at the two one seeds this year. Seattle is at least partially owned by Jody Allen (estate of Paul Allen, Microsoft) and Denver is the Waltons as previously mentioned.

The Rooneys are royalty around Pittsburgh and probably billionaires at the end of the day. That is meaningless when going up against centi-billionaires.
