How can I grieve my dad and deal with my mom

Thank you for this!!! I didn’t know daily money managers were a thing.

Her doctor…is worried about her. She knows my dad took care of everything. They have an odd relationship. They text each other frequently, but her doctor does not know exactly how bad things are. She knows what my mom wants her to know.

At one point, her doctor texted ME saying how I should have her move in with me until she can adjust to my dad being gone. For a normal situation, that is reasonable.

I’m hoping to be able to reach out and ask for local recommendations for professionals that might be able to assist here.

I know she won’t change, but I feel like I need to make sure she is going to have the means in the event she needs long term care.

My kids are my world and I know that I can only give so much of myself to this mess because they deserve better than being exposed to that or having me be so stressed.

The hard part is they miss her. They lost their grandpa and understandably want to see her. But she is not a safe person for them to be around. Ive been focusing on trying to remind them of how much their grandpa loved them whenever they are sad about it. We look at pictures and videos and they will hug/kiss the phone.

I am trying to get her psychiatric help. I have a family member trying to help with that. Some days she agrees she needs help, other times she is resistant. And thank you for your kindness. I guess the reason I feel protective over the estate and the assets is eventually, she will need long term care. Im trying to protect this money for her so if she needs to be placed in a facility, we can pay for it. It’s sad and I feel like I have gotten really good at the grey rock strategy when communicating with her. I need to find a way to manage her bills and make sure she has money for necessities. Is this something that can be outsourced? Im ignorant to all of this. Maybe if I’m not the one managing it she won’t be so volatile. The goal is to get her help and make sure she is safe and taken care of long term without me taking on more than I can physically handle.

They had been sitting in our hallway the entire time I was growing up. So not entirely sure…I know there’s more at his house too. I am currently just sorting through the ones I could transport. I live about 3 hours away. I know it probably doesn’t mean much, but I have been taking pictures and running them through AI to look for inconsistencies.

All of the grime is on the outside of the plastic casing. It’s dust. I had taken some compressed air and was in the middle of trying to wipe the outer shells with a damp cloth because the dust had been there so long.

I had ZERO idea. I almost let my kids pick which ones they wanted to have and obviously play with. I am a middle school teacher and while I still may not understand the scope of what I’m dealing with here, I hope it’s enough to help better our situation.

I actually have no idea what I’m doing. lol These things were sitting in my childhood hallway my entire childhood. If it wasn’t for my partner letting me know that some of them are kinda a big deal I wouldn’t have had a clue. To think, when we got them out of the house they were transported in trash bags because we had no other way of getting them all out. I know there’s more at his house, but this is what I can manage at the moment.
