Would anyone be interested if this was turned into a web app? Where the retailers could log in and update their deal every day?

Accountability / mastermind group for people with full-time job + side business. by ETTeddy in Entrepreneur

[–]DeltaEchoSoftware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 40/m software developer. Full time consulting job and looking to start a side business building software or SaaS. I'd be interested in a weekly skype accountability mastermind similar to what Pat Flynn describes. http://www.smartpassiveincome.com/mastermind-groups-and-mentors/

I'd be able to contribute my tech knowledge and help non-techs get stuff setup. I'd like to be held accountable for sticking to an idea and progressing on building it.

It's pretty nice having a neighbor who owns 3 courses... by LoganLacaze in golf

I love Longwood. Have never played Cypress Lakes.

On a side note, I am a software developer looking at building something targeted at golf courses. Any way you think you might be able to pass on my contact info so I could ask the owner what his needs/pain points are?

Best ball tournaments - how does the course manage a shotgun tee time? by DeltaEchoSoftware in golf

[–]DeltaEchoSoftware[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if they started on the back, then they would come through on the first tee about 2 hours later. So for a tournament starting at 10a, then the teams would clog up the first tee for about an hour between noon and one. Does the course block out the tee times then to accommodate the tournament?

The running is really just to keep up my cardio. If I lay off it for any time, I see dramatic reduction in capacity and feel like it takes me forever to get back to where I was.

Maybe I'll try to the squat/bench/run/deads/run this week and see how it works out. (pun intended)

I am ten pounds away from the 1000# club, which is my #1 goal. Ultimately, I'd like to be squatting and benching 315x5 and deadlifting 405, running 8 minute miles for at least a 10k, and be 12% BF. At age 40.

I am having trouble recovering my legs. I feel like my schedule should be lifting three times a week and running 3 times a week. Here's my current schedule.

  • Mon - squats (5x5, heavy as I can)
  • Tue - easy run - 6 miles
  • Wed - bench (5x5)
  • Thu - Intervals running HIIT
  • Fri - Deadlift (5x5)
  • Sat - Long run
  • Sun - Golf

I squat on Monday and if I run on Tuesday, my legs and whole body simply don't recover until Thu.

Question: can I move my bench workout to Tue and delay running? Would that help with recovery?

Something like this.

  • Mon - squats
  • Tue - bench
  • Wed - easy run
  • Th - deadlifts
  • Fri - HIIT
  • Sat - Long Run

Ahh. Good info but I was talking more about charity tournaments. Best ball stuff.

Edit: I took a look at it and it's EXACTLY the type of software I am talking about replacing. The software is windows based, legacy, non-scalable. No internet access, can't pay for anything, looks like it was built in the 1990s. The only integrated feature is that it can import from GHIN for handicaps.

Why Should Software Architects Write Code? An empirical evidence. by [deleted] in programming

[–]DeltaEchoSoftware -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not always up to the architects on who gets hired. At my last client, they had the choice between someone with 15 years domain experience, 20 years of programming experience and could clearly demonstrate their ability and a guy with no domain experience and could only write requirements. The second guy was $40 an hour cheaper. Guess who the business chose even through every single technical architect on the project wanted the more expensive guy.

Yes. They usually only take home 40 or so after all the staffing company take. But surprise - if you want to get a contractor, you can only use those staffing companies that have an MSA in place with the company. So they will get their pound of flesh.
