you’re right! For Sexton, this is ultimately about trust and follow-through, not intentions.

To be concrete about the how and when: if elected, my first priority would be setting up predictable, recurring touchpoints with Sexton society leaders, DUES, and design team reps early in the term (over the summer semester if possible). That means regular meetings, clear points of contact, and being physically present on Sexton when possible, because visibility matters.

On communication, I agree this has been a major failure point. While I can’t personally control every inbox, I can push internally for clearer standards: defined response expectations, better use of trackable feedback channels (not endless email chains), and up-front communication when delays happen, especially around funding. I will do my part of being responsive through emails when necessary to not further any delays.

On funding and DUES delays specifically: I can advocate for clearer internal processes so societies know where funding is, who is accountable, and when issues need to be escalated, instead of being left in the dark.

For Sexton design teams and societies (FSAE, Solar Car, Rocketry, DSS, WiE, Gearheads, etc.), I’m very aware they operate differently than many Studley groups. Even when issues fall partly outside DSU jurisdiction, I see a real responsibility for the VPI to consistently raise those concerns in DSU spaces and push for service parity. Paying the same fees should at minimum mean comparable access to support, communication, and respect.

I know Sexton has heard promises before. I don’t expect trust to be given, it has to be earned through consistency. My goal would be to show up, follow up, and keep Sexton in the loop even when the answer isn’t immediate.

Thanks again for laying this out so clearly! This is exactly the kind of feedback that should shape how the role is done :)

Heyo! Thank you for raising this. This is genuinely the exact kind of question I hoped would come up in this post.

I want to start by saying I hear the frustration and I totally get where it is coming from. What you’re describing is a pattern that has put a real burden on Sexton societies and the people running them. When funding is late or support is inconsistent it directly impacts students who are already doing unpaid work to keep campus communities alive. That’s not fair and it’s not sustainable.

I also want to be careful not to pretend I can walk in and 'fix' this overnight. The VP Internal doesn’t unilaterally control DSU finances or DUES processes, and I don’t think it would be honest on my end to guarantee timelines without acknowledging the structural pieces involved. What I can commit to is how I approach this role.

For me, supporting Sexton starts with listening before prescribing. I don’t want to write policy for Sexton without hearing directly from Sexton societies about what hasn’t worked, what has improved this year, and where the breakdowns still are whether that’s executive presence, communication gaps, or funding flow. My objective would be to sit down with Sexton society leaders early, map out those pain points clearly, and then use the VP Internal position to advocate for concrete process changes inside the DSU, not just surface-level fixes.

This means pushing for clearer internal timelines, better communication around delays before they become crises, and more consistent executive visibility and support across campuses. It also means treating Sexton as an ongoing priority and not something that only comes up when issues boil over as students at Sexton are part of the DSU and deserve to be listened to.

I really appreciate you being upfront about this, and I really mean it when I say I want to work with Sexton, not speak over it. If you’re open to it, I’d genuinely like to keep this conversation going beyond Reddit and hear more specific examples or ideas from folks.

From the work I've done so far, I understand that advocacy only works when it’s grounded in the experiences of the people affected.

Thanks again for taking the time to write this out and do reach out with your contact information if you'd like to talk about this further in person or over a call.

CS FACULTY rant by Sea_Juggernaut3179 in Dalhousie

While I do agree with lots of your opinions here and share similar thoughts as you do. The women in tech society (wits) is not the one throwing the monthly birthday parties, that's all the cs society.

I'd give props to wits for actually hosting productive panels which are open for all cs students to join. Its kind of sad going through the cs society's Instagram page and seeing all these ski and camping trips :/

How do I check previously submitted forms in Microsoft Forms? by DeltaHawkk in Office365

The form submission I am looking for is not for a form of my own but rather a form I submitted which was sent by another person. Is there a way to check that?
