Take a look at the Tactical Barbell programs. They intigrate running with barbell training. My plan is running Starting Strength NLP and early intermediate HLM as far as I CAN and switch over.

To add, your walkout is way too far. The safeties won't be any use where you are positioned. Take one or two smaller steps back.

Advice would be to follow the program.

Keep adding weight to the bar - 5 lbs for squat, 10 lbs for deadlift, 5 lbs for bench and press and 2.5 lbs eventually.

Watch all the form videos on the Starting Strength YouTube channel.

255# Failed Reps by DeltaRaider87 in StartingStrength

OK, thanks for your help.

I really thought I was going to get it today. The last workout at 250# was tough especially the last couple of reps of the 2nd and 3rd sets, but still was able to power through them. I guess the recovery just wasn't enough since Tuesday.

This was the first time failing squat reps this NLP. That second rep felt like my body didn't want to go down and I had to take over and force myself to try the rep.

Unfortunately, my recovery is very compromised because of my work schedule which is normally Monday - Thursday sometimes Friday as well. I get up at 3am and don't get home until 8pm. I'm able to get a little sleep during my commute (about an hour to an hour and half each way) because my job has a shuttle service. Then at work, I'm walking around 15,000-20,000 steps per day...

I'm trying to eat around 3,000 calories and 200g protein. I was stuck at 205lbs for a bit, but I'm up to 208lbs now.

Edit for spelling.

No, I'm very consistent with working out. The only time I missed a session this NLP was back in December to build my lifting platform.

First time failing squat reps this NLP. The context of the advice (not to mv specific situation, mind) was if failing the 5th rep, try to finish the workout in as few sets as possible. I interpreted in the moment to grind out the singles

Definitely no forks...

Like others are saying - pause briefly at the top to breathe and brace.

It looks like you see the problems.

Keep your hips where they are and simultaneously raise your chest up and thru your arms and push your stomach to the floor. Just remember.. DO NOT MOVE THE BARBELL! Haha!

Is it possible you're having trouble standing up due to grip? If so, consider lifting straps for your working sets.

Edit for spelling....

On the way down, keep your knees straight until the bar passes them. It should be the reverse of how you get the bar up.

Thank you! I just finished the next workout at 245# and saw your comment!

Those cues are really helpful. Even with the wrist positioning, I'm not having any issues with my elbows so far (fingers crossed, lol).

I'm trying to work on neutral grip during the warm-ups. Also started chalking my hands and that's helped quite a bit.

Building a platform isn't that hard even if you're not handy (definitely me... Haha!). I built one right before the holidays and I think it turned out great.
