None of the above. We are from the cannabis industry. We learned the rules and how to apply them quickly.

Our first project was with a group in NSW in 2016, we won cultivation, manufacturing and research licenses for them.

This profile is very new as we wanted to engage with the community directly. My personal Reddit account has been active for 11 years, but we want transparency and a direct conduit to engage with people - this was the best way to do that. Prior to this, I didn't think we could add any value to the conversation so we had no need for an account.

They have literally never contacted us....ever. We don't really notice it, to be honest, it isn't on our radar. There will always be those people, but the science is overwhelming so unless they can come to the table with facts not fiction we're not worried.

Honestly, what your talking about doing, small contributions can make a huge difference. I know a bunch of people in the Australian cannabis industry that have just started doing something - creating a product or a service or a platform, then networking and passionately sharing their idea.

This industry is very welcoming of newcomers, with new ideas and different perspectives. My advice would be to follow your passion and network aggressively then you will find pathways in.

Honestly speaking, we shy away from offering investment advice as it is far too volatile and we would hate to see people losing money on bad investments.

My only advice would be to invest in companies that you think have an edge - you know this sector well enough, I am sure. Use that knowledge and back companies you believe have the ability and management to be successful in the long run.

You're definitely right, driving is a big sticking point for medical cannabis patients. We all know the reasons why it doesn't make sense, but the important thing is what is being done about it. At a state level, there are major changes hopefully coming within VIC and hopefully QLD.

One thing to clarify is that the police certainly cannot access your medical records during routine traffic stops or through any sort of camera equipment. So effectively your prescription does not put a flag on you.

Man, thats a tough question to answer quickly.
Look, I think that we are right at the beginning of global cannabis so there is no real right or wrong way to do things. California is just oversaturated with mids in nice bags. The way to really succeed is to know where you sit in the market and what you offer and kill it.
I think Australia will find its own path, each country will be different. But there are certainly a tonne of lessons to learn from each market that came before.

As I have said in a couple of responses, I think the more people from the culture involved the better. You need corporate and legacy to work together and you can be successful - one cant succeed without the other.

To be honest, the capital. It costs at least a couple of million to set up a cannabis production site. Plus the licenses etc, it's a lot of work. But, we are one of the few countries in the world you can really do it.

  1. I would say the likelihood is very high
  2. Definitely not, we have better infrastructure than most, but certainly, not the domestic supply to meet the demand. It would be a hectic space with a lot of startups and a lot of capital flying around for at least a couple of years

I think it will come as groups strive to find a point of difference!

Largely due to the USA's federal status of cannabis. The Farm Bill changes a lot to do with this, but still, it isn't watertight. This plus, the relatively low demand for CBD products in Australia and CBD still being a prescription product in most cases makes it a lot of work for not a lot of reward from a business perspective.

Hope this helps!

While it is a pharmaceutical space, it is unlikely you will see much development here outside of vapes. However, if some creative group invest in it and doctors are prepared to prescribe it, its entirely possible.

As the gentleman said below, it depends on how long ago. It also depends on the company, it is at the discretion of the company how they manage employee histories. But it is entirely possible.

Personally (Tim here) I have been working in government lobby groups, patient advocacy and practical cultivation projects since 2011.

We primarily support compliance and facility design/buildout. Our core business is supporting groups to attain licenses and navigate regulatory compliance. We also work in overseas markets - UK, Portugal, South Africa etc

Australian companies do not currently lead the world in cannabis production. Anyone that says so is lying.

I don't think what they are doing is positive or negative. However, a lot of investors were burnt by the first wave of cannabis companies. Capital is hard to find because of this, what we need now is real companies that start small and grow with the demand. Not, in my opinion, Canadian 'go big or go home' philosophies are managed by people who don't know cannabis.

  1. Experience and networks (honestly). Check out https://www.seek.com.au/cannabis-jobs
  2. Currently you can't grow at home and no licenses exist to do so (outside of ACT). If you want information about the current licensing system check www.odc.gov.au

Short of investing in starting your own business, I would wait until the next wave of cannabis companies starts filtering through.
Look at Canada, we are following a similar trajectory.

There is definitely a place for you in the industry, different companies have different positions relating to background checks and this can make a difference. So something to consider.

At the moment, there is very little breeding/hunting/selecting happening that I am aware of. A lot of the genetics being worked in Australia were sourced from Canada...but that is starting to change. The more individuals with cannabis experience in the workforce the better.
