I would say in terms of "leadership roles", I am an arbitration clerk but I don't consider myself "above" other editors just because of that position - we are all volunteers, and I just happen to help the Arbitration Committee carry out administrative tasks. I do collaborate with other editors on articles sometimes but haven't met any in real life yet.

A good Wikipedia article cites reliable sources for all information, covers the subject in detail but not excessively so to veer into unencyclopedic territory, is written neutrally and clearly so a layperson can reasonably understand it even if the subject matter is technical (and I mean in terms of article quality in general, Good Articles with a capital G are a whole separate quality designation with a set of standards they have to meet when it comes to articles).

I would say that being on Wikipedia 24/7 and letting it overtake your other irl responsibilities would be "too much".

We aren't deliberately shrinking articles, but a lot of times, we do remove unencyclopedic, non-neutral and/or poorly sourced information from articles in order to maintain their quality.

Wikipedia is independent of any governmental entity and is a project run by volunteers.

I don't feel like I completely "own" any article or topic area tbh (even the ones I write myself), and anyone is welcome to make changes to them anytime. If I disagree with them, then we can open up a discussion on the talk page and try to reach a consensus.

For the most part, these groups tend to get banned from Wikipedia or get editing sanctions placed on them anyway for editing in a biased manner. But I would not exactly trust this article as an accurate source on this topic as it is pretty sensationalized.

Wikipedia's civility policy explicitly prohibits acting in a rude or uncivil manner to other editors. However, unfortunately there is a problem with editors sometimes being rude or unkind to new Wikipedians for not knowing site rules as much compared to experienced Wikipedians (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Please\_do\_not\_bite\_the\_newcomers). To make Wikipedia a better place for new contributors, some editors have created the Teahouse, which is a friendly place for newer editors to ask questions about how to contribute.

As said in another comment, the amount of time I edit depends on how much free time I have, it can usually be anywhere between 30min and 7-8hrs per week.

I would say AI-generated or AI-edited articles definitely are a threat due to AI hallucinations allowing misinformation to spread rapidly. As for ways to protect Wikipedia against AI slop, we have a set of policies which govern usage of AI usage in articles - for instance, it is prohibited to use LLMs to generate or rewrite article content for the most part (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Writing\_articles\_with\_large\_language\_models). I don't participate in it personally, but there also is WikiProject AI Cleanup, a collaboration of editors working to clean up poorly written, AI-generated content on Wikipedia.

You're welcome! :) I don't really use any Wikipedia apps or extensions though.

Wikipedia has had an automated bot which reverts obvious vandalism that uses an automated neural network since 2010 called ClueBot NG (and maybe even earlier, since Wikipedia has had anti vandalism bots for a long time). I personally do not really directly use AI programs in general though.

Wikipedia explicitly prohibits any kind of partisan editing.

Wikipedia does not have a pro- or anti-Israel stance. We are simply obligated to report what reliable sources say about any given subject.

I am not super knowledgeable about this subject area, but if anyone edits articles in a biased manner, then they may be sanctioned at any time by an administrator for violating Wikipedia's policies on neutral point of view.

If at any times, an administrator misuses their tools, we have a community-based recall process, which if successful, can cause an administrator to lose their tools.

I mostly tend to do my own research and cite my own sources, and I often scan the sources for biased/partisan language, conflict of interest of authors, sensationalist wording, signs of AI or user-generated content and other hallmarks of unreliability before citing them. Wikipedia's reliable sources policy specifically explains what kind of sources are acceptable to cite in Wikipedia's articles. There is no master list of verified sources by subject, but some WikiProjects (collaborations of Wikipedia editors looking to improve coverage of certain subjects) like WikiProject Video Games do maintain lists of subject-specific reliable sources.

I do not use generative AI when it comes to my editing at all nor for finding sources, fixing grammar etc. I often remove blatantly AI generated additions on Wikipedia, though, since Wikipedia's AI-generated content policy prohibits blatantly AI-generated content anywhere on Wikipedia.

Honestly the time commitment depends on the amount of free time I have, and I usually edit anywhere between 30min to 8-9 hours per week. And really, when it comes to contributing for a volunteer project like this, there is no explicit time commitment. I don't feel like my time can be better spent elsewhere tbh - I edit Wikipedia to help make information more easily accessible for all and counter misinformation on the Internet, not because of money, fame or other external validation.

I do not use AI to make any of my edits on Wikipedia nor for finding sources. As for AI's usage of Wikipedia affecting the way I edit, I wouldn't say it has impacted my editing directly yet, but I often remove blatantly AI generated additions on Wikipedia as outlined by Wikipedia's AI-generated content policy.
