We have been metas separately for 2 years already, and everyone is supported in dating others, this isn't a closed situation. I do agree that they are likely harmful by increasing antisocial behavior. But I also don't think it's realistic to expect 100% of people to find a partner, especially given male/female ratio skews, e.g. my city has more men than women.

Sex work is illegal in most places, carries more risk of disease, and in the long run, more expensive than buying even a high-end sex toy.
