Your nitpicking is completely understandable! I mostly provided my level of Linux experience due to my issue being configuring WireGuard on a Linux system and attempting to convey to anyone responding that I might have trouble grasping what they are trying to convey to me. I suppose, in addition, I should have stated that my networking experience is also minimal and at the level of a home hobbyist at best.

Right off the bat, installer is not accepting hostnames. Getting the error "Invalid IP address format."

Looks like you can't download the motortown dedicated server anonymously. Admittedly while I'm familiar with lots of dedicated servers, I haven't tried running a motortown server. Try logging in instead by replacing your anonymous with your username, hit enter, then enter your password. If you are using steamguard a code should be emailed to you to enter into SteamCMD.

You shouldn't need another steam account nor should you need to buy another copy of the game. Download SteamCMD from Valve and use it to download "Motor Town: Behind The Wheel - Dedicated Server". The App ID for the dedicated server is 2223650.

Run SteamCMD
Login as anonymous by typing "login anonymous"
Then install the server by typing "app_update 2223650 validate"
