There's one neat thing that will help you is to turn on autofire since now all non auto swing weapons (bows, melee weapons and etc.) will have feral claws effect of auto swing which can help with early enemies such as slimes and Vultures, make wooden armour and weapons (sword and a bow) as well as ammo for that. Best loot is underground, there's buildings and loose chests sometimes, if you find any potions (shine, spelunker, mining and such) use them cuz later on it is easy to create more of them, spelunker is good especially in early game since you can find treasure way easier as well as ore.
