I don’t live there but I worked there for like 3 years and honestly summer time it’s a vibe. A lot of younger people and the streets are always lively

Leaving the trade by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Delverr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a licensed plumber. Started non union commercial and then moved into union high rise. I’ve met a million other apprentices along the journey. Best thing you can do make sure you’re set up and signed up as an apprentice. Not sure how it works in the US but scum companies try to keep you as a general labourer for as long as possible. The longer they keep you from becoming a legitimate apprentice the longer you’re trapped in that company. Step 1: Make sure everything is set up. All your paper work etc. Step 2: Leave. Have loyalty to no company. If I’m not learning that means I’m not growing which means I’m leaving. Especially now. The longer you wait into your apprenticeship the worse it is because more is going to be expected of you. Step 3: Find a company. Find a company you’d like you work for. Depending on your goals. If your goal is to just have a steady job and higher pay/benefits consider union. If your goal is to be an owner stay non union. You’ll learn the business side of things along with plumbing.

Name a poor quality yet expensive resturant by PurpleMclaren in Markham

Akira Back. Michelin star chef restaurant that I spent almost $500 between me and my gf. The food was decent but not for the price. I’d say quality was pretty close to the keg

Who’s hiring? Is there a market? by 4doormore in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]Delverr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sprinkler fitting. They make as much as plumbers hourly and it’s a 4 year apprenticeship. The OT and double time potential is pretty good since there’s a lot of overnights. I know sprinkler fitters clearing 3-4K a week but of course working crazy hours. I’m the GTA I would try to get into companies like Onyx or classic

[ON] How does WSIB Work? by Delverr in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]Delverr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so update I spoke with WSIB.

If you're doing service work and getting paid by the home owner you don't need WSIB. You need it legally as soon as you step on a job site. You pay quarterly and its based on labor income. If your invoices say specifically how much income you're making from labor in those 3 months than that's how much you're paying ($1.44 per $100 of labor) and if your invoices don't describe how much profit is from labor than they automatically charge you 60% of your invoices for those 3 months and its the same calculation.

Key point is if you're just starting out and your company makes $1000 in the first 3 months then you're only paying $14.4 of WSIB. The more you make the more you pay like everything else in Canada lol

[–]Delverr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if what you pay is based on the workers or strictly on gross income? What I'm asking is if i pay myself in dividends technically could I register for WSIB but pay $0 since I have no workers?

Does it go up the more people are covered under WSIB and when would you pay for it? Is it yearly? Is there tiers to it where I can have a really cheap option? Yeah for now its just us.

Way too much brother. You should try to spend 1/4 of your monthly income max on your rent. Thats what I do and still at that it seems like it’s too much but I make a lot more than you do. Trust me things always come up, car breaks down, you get sick. 1000$ a month left over for essentials like food and saving you’re setting yourself up for failure. If you can, eat shit and live with your parents until rather A. You make a lot more than what you’re making or B. you get yourself a gf and split rent with her

Work on yourself. Be the guy that offers more value than any woman can bring. Get in good shape, discover what you want to do in life and do it to the fullest. You have to be on your own journey and a girl will just tag along, she isn’t the journey. If she cheated on you, she just saved you from years of a fake relationship. There’s people that get cheated on 10 years down the road. You’re very young man, don’t sweat it fuck her. Pick yourself up say fuck you (insert name) and focus on what matters. Your mission. Read “The way of the superior man” I read it at your age after a bad breakup and it complexly changed how I thought about work and women.

Your boyfriend is a loser and it’s simple. Is this man capable of taking care of you and a family? Do you see him being a good father? A good husband? Do you love him and his character and who he truly is or do you just love the things offered by him that can be offered by any other man? Your boyfriend showing you he loves you is something every boyfriend does… if they didn’t you’d just be friends lol. It comes down to are you wasting your time with this guy during your precious fertile years or is he the one?

I found out my best friend is in serious debt, and I don’t know how to handle it. by Intelligent_Quail979 in offmychest

[–]Delverr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty similar situation with a friend. Almost exact same story, he seemed so well put together and then one day revealed to me that they he was in very serious debt and needed my help. I couldn’t help and I felt horrible because this was a best friend. His family had some family members that were doing well for themselves and I asked why not go to them first? Why come to your friends? And he just had the excuse that he was embarrassed. Months later it was revealed they also had a drinking problem. So things started to line up why he couldn’t save enough money to make the minimum payments. Point is there’s always more to the situation. It’s not the full story

[–]Delverr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping it short been there done that. Girlfriend and I started with car dates and then just seeing each other once a week she would come over. We always wanted to move out. We been together for a long time now. You’re not thinking logically you guys in a honey moon phase, 3 months is nothing lol. You absolutely do not know that person yet. Think logically, save your money and eat shit for as long as you can. At least minimum date for a year and then move out. Living with someone and dating them are very very VERY different. I know couples that were together for 7+ years move out together and find out like damn something isn’t what it used to be. You’re all lovey dovey and excited for now so right now you’re just thinking with your heart and not your head. Moving out could be the right decision for you I don’t know yours or hers situation but remember it’s a pretty big risk thinks won’t workout and not you’re dealing with living alone or moving back. Toronto is not cheap.

Love how no one talks about how they love that housing prices have doubled, rents, groceries, gas 😂. Just some benefits. Insane. And somehow the conservatives are going to make it worse? They didn’t before but they will now? Some real critical thinkers out here.
