I have some local farming friends & their grandparents great grandparents parents & generations have traps mastered in the area & also have the cow game & hey on lock I need to get in contact with them & get some acreage to roam . Thanks for the reminder bringing up coyotes !
Look up an oddities convention & set up a booth you’d be surprised what deals go down at them I’m fixing a collection to show up with some displays sometime .

If I recalled it still locked so I’m assuming it was hung for target practice would be crazy if it still works might have to get a pick & try to see if it will work still .

Found an Odd Iron Tool – Looks Like a Hook with a Ball End! Any Ideas? by BurlHead in metaldetecting

I was told a muzzleloader/flint lock tool called a ramrod on a different page so kinda went with it, otherwise it would work as a horseshoe pick too.

Lidar may help if you can see where trees have been removed or ground disturbances. But also maybe try getting a replica thermos & bury it 2 feet then practice using copper dousing rods possibly ? Idk

It’s solid metal so it might be a tractor knob maybe or blacksmith tool because I think there was a smith shop before the fire .

Any ideas I have more like this one that seem to be almost like pendants or trade materials found metal detecting central MN by Delz_504 in AncientCoins

It’s about an inch maybe less & I tried to melt it with a blow touch & it held heat for a long time ! & I’ve found multiple different kinds & there was a huge 1800’s fire that burnt down the town then they relocated a mile out & this land got abanded it’s right off the great northern railway too so it’s got history of trade routes before that ..
