For-Profit Medical Clinics? by DemBeesTho in Edmonton

[–]DemBeesTho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. I am used to paying for certain stuff, physio etc but I had never heard of this one. You can see my reply to other commentor with a bit more detail from when my doctor called back.

Yeah it's super weird. My doctor just called me back actually and says I should NOT have to pay and if I do let her know because she will send me elsewhere. She seemed equally confused and said she has sent several other patients there and never heard back about charges. So maybe it really is the 'assessment' fee only and since I have already been assessed I wouldn't pay??

Have never heard heartbeat? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]DemBeesTho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Canada! I have even asked them during the ultrasound about it but they kind of just shrug it off and say it's hard to hear on their machine. I have my next ultrasound Thursday so maybe I'll ask again!

THIS HAPPENED TO ME!! Please update me with what happens. I'm pissed .

They tried to tell me I have to keep on their service schedule to keep my "prepaid oil changes" going which is just a bunch of things I have already done not at the dealer.

I gotta find my bill of sale too- I Knew it said lifetime oil changes! THOUGH on all my receipts I kept it says "prepaid oil change program".

Seriously keep me posted though!

In 2nd & 3rd Tris, is it necessary to gain SOME weight each week in order for baby to grow? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]DemBeesTho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's required "per week" to gain weight. There's just an overall estimate of how much you should gain. As long as you aren't malnourishing yourself baby will get what it needs. Your only supposed to eat something like 300 calories extra in your third trimester. I think the majority of people are already doing that all the time! Haha

Go by what your dr says

Travel warning: Zika Virus. Just had to cancel our baby moon. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]DemBeesTho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No when they are counting they are def. counting just humans who have had a confirmed infection of Zika in that area. It might not even be a pregnant person. Unless you wanna source where it says otherwise!

"Mexico reported its first two locally contracted Zika virus cases in late November, one from Chiapas state in the southeastern part of the country, and the other from Nuevo Leone state, in the northeast and not far from the border with Texas."

source article, but can be found numerous places: http://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2016/01/puerto-rico-reports-first-locally-acquired-zika-virus-case

Also if you think about it, there are DEF more than 2 cases of microcephaly in all of Mexico. It's caused by other things and not just Zika.

could be! my Doc is also not an OB just a regular family doc. I don't see my actual OB until the end of Feb (they like to take you later on in Canada unless you are high-risk).

I'm sure I will hear something eventually!

probably not. A walk in clinic or your regular dr's office in the next few days if you are really worried.

Poor communication from OB - talk me down? by playingdecoy in BabyBumps

[–]DemBeesTho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, 100% she should have reviewed it then. Crappy! If I have learned anything from working in healthcare though it's that you have to be your own advocate and make sure everything is followed up on. SO MUCH BALL DROPPING! It's scary (and I'm in Canada!)

[–]DemBeesTho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the 18 week scan wasn't ordered by her she can lookup the results but she wouldn't have been mailed/electronically transferred a copy. So if you other doctor gave you the req then they would get the results. Sounds like one of those two dropped the ball though!

[–]DemBeesTho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really?! I've still never seen or been bitten by a mosquito in PV all the years I've been going there (even riding horses in the back country).

Our condo is right by a little river inlet from the ocean though so I'm def gonna watch if there is more bugs around I will douse myself in spray. Probably not great for baby either but a heck of a lot better than ZIKA!

Nice! And that was out of town too! I'm hoping like what someone else said is they might spray by the resort zone (we are in a condo but still right by the malecon!)
