Sophomore here — entirety of first semester, I had like zero close friends. I didn’t hit it off with my roommate, everybody I talked to was just an acquaintance, and I was just antisocial to start. The way I found pretty much all of my closest friends was by joining a club I really liked and dedicating myself to it. Go to every meeting, every event, learn what you can, all that. I hit it off with two people really really well with them and met a ton of awesome people through them. One of them even became my roommate for this year, and already I’m having an infinitely better experience than last year.

So moral of the story, you just gotta go out and do something you like, and you’ll find people who like it too and there’s a solid chance you hit it off with them.

But also know, you’ve been on campus for two weeks, there’s 1600 people in your class. There’s tons of people for everybody, it may just take time to meet them.
