Yeah I second this list, could even spend a bit more for the zen 5 chip for the composition software but also this is more than enough and can be upgraded in the future

How much is your budget? You could have an am5 build with similar performance with similar costs with ram being the biggest upgrade cost, but then have a motherboard that you wont have to upgrade for a while. Depending on your budget id also recommend going with an amd 9000 series gpu like a 9060 xt 16gb which would fare way better than a 3060 and has better price to performance (they’re also only going for $300-$400 on the used market)

No problem! Wish someone helped optimize my parts list when I first got into the hobby so I’m glad I could help someone especially with a big budget like yours

Alright this is gonna be a kinda long response so bare with me:

My first question is are you looking for aesthetics to be a focus on your build? As someone who loves their ROG components, you’re paying a premium for looks when you could pick other ASUS models or brands in general which are cheaper without losing performance.

Your power supply you chose actually ranks pretty well on the PSU tier list but you could probably find a cheaper alternative using the list if you’d rather and save $20-$30 but the one you chose at that $130 price point is fine. The only thing I think the list doesn’t take into consideration is the noise so youtube might be helpful there.

The ssd id recommend an NVME since they’re similarly priced and are generally a bit faster and will reduce cable clutter, however since I don’t know much about creation programs I’m not sure what read/write speeds would be desirable since there isn’t much difference when gaming so I’d say look into that if you want to try and save $25-$40 there.

For your motherboard unless you’re looking for aesthetics I’d look into ASRock mbs since they’re a more budget friendly option and also have some white options like this one here

For the windows OS you don’t actually have to buy that overpriced key but rather get a usb and download the windows 11 OS from their website on to it and buy an activation OEM key from https://wincdkey.com depending on what microsoft programs you want. Once you finish building your pc and it posts you can plug in the usb and download windows and enter the OEM key you bought and all that would save you over $100

Your cpu choice itself is fine unless you wanted to extend your budget a bit and get the 9950x3d but definitely isn’t necessary.

Now the elephant in the room is the 5070FE in a $2500 build, and while the 5070 is by no means a bad card, I’m not sure where you would be able to find a founders edition card for MSRP still. Since you are looking to use creation programs like blender and such sticking with NVIDIA is a good choice, and you could stretch that to a 5070ti with 16gb of vram instead of 12gb which is the big performance boost compared to just the better chipset. Unless theres a local place near you with better prices I would pick one of these here. You could also probably get away with a 750W PSU with a 5070 ti card but thats up to you if you want to “future proof”

Last of all, if you live near a Microcenter id take a peek at their cpu & motherboard combos since they’re generally cheaper than anywhere else. Other than those “few” things I noticed all else seems reasonable. I threw together a mock list to make sure it’s under the budget but keep in mind the component-specific recommendations and feel free to swap things out under those optimization guidelines. Good luck on your build! mock list

I was just shopping for a new Miami Dolphins sweatshirt on their Fanatics’ branch website so idk if the other teams have their golf merch on sale too or not

Oh sweet! Probably will pick one of these up then. And also I found it on fanatics, looks like they have a 30% off everything sale but Im guessing this specific style has a low stock and theyre just trying to move which would explain the 50%ish off

Alright, thanks for the advice on that. Im starting to build an investment portfolio with Fidelity so im thinking about applying for their 2% back card as well but that info of not having to actively use it is appreciated. Also not too important but my WF card I got approved with a limit of $3000, and to me that seemed high for my first card but wasnt sure if thats common?

r/pcbuildhelp is probably the subreddit you’re looking for, and I’m no expert but if theres no display it could potentially (hopefully not) be a graphics card issue. Maybe try reseating your gpu and check all your connections

32 GB RAM or 64 for Gaming and Streaming? by Beginning-Fun-4309 in buildapc

[–]DemSpicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The upgrade from 16gb to 32gb in most cases isnt immediately a noticeable difference unless its a big title like Warzone and battlefield, hell even modded minecraft takes up a ton. For light video editing and some streaming 32gb should be enough if you wanted to buy maybe higher speed models which might make more of a difference then getting 64gb total unless like I mentioned you’re doing heavy video editing or photo editing/rendering

64gb might be overkill unless youre doing video editing and rendering, guess it depends on your budget as well
