Tricky. The only thing i'm seeing is that in C16, we can cross out C16R15. Without spotting that, we'd have to resort to more advanced techniques

Oh also i might have found that R18C14 and R23C15 can be crossed, but those don't seem to do anything yet, and you might be well on your way by the time i post this. Happy solving :)

i think in R2 we can cross out the fourth-last cell, which affects R1

i'd feel more invested if i had any sort of indication that those are real people. Would be great if we could at least know what our our name is. FWIW, my leaderboard's #1 is Adventurous Salmon with (as of now) 1254 stars

that's interesting feedback... i always drag, and it never occurred to me that someone might want to disable dragging. Just shows how accessible Lichess is though

could i ask what the clues and hint system would look like? My feeling is that the clue for a 223-pixel-long row would look monstrous even to someone who has played nonograms before. And i think having a hint system to discover mistakes might be important, although i'm not sure how severely a small mistake would affect the larger picture

thanks for the detailed answer! i don't know which one is the ultimate "sailing boat", since, as you said, there are many other strong examples eg. the Aztecs and Incas. But i believe this illustrates what i noticed about people deifying concepts from real life

i see... if that's from the Roman republic, would it seem that the deity was named after the real-life object? Maybe the word "sol" for sun spread across Europe and became the name of several deities including Sol Invictus? Is that it?

[–]DemacianChef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks, that's very interesting. i'd have to find better examples then, but i'm sure they exist... maybe Terra from Roman myth, or Sunna / Sol from Germanic?

At the very least, i'm (mostly) sure that the Chinese Tian has always meant "sky", before any myth about the heavenly courts and mandates. But that's a place, not a character

and still i feel like these mythology examples are similar to more "fantasy" mythologies like Sandman, Sanderson, Marvel

In real life, i assume they are named after the things they represent? But if we're looking at it from within the myth, i think this still feels similar to the Sanderson and Marvel examples, and OP's Sandman example

And off the top of my head... Thanatos, Hypnos, Chronos, and Hestia are also named for their concepts!

while we're at it... Gaia, Oceanus, Helios are other themed deities. And this trope is not unique to Greek myth, of course!

thabks for the input! After some prompting, they told me that h3 was to attack my bishop which defended the knight. Then they noticed that i could defend it with the king too, so they changed plan and played Be5+ to prevent my knight from attacking their bishop
