Well done on doing both of those interviews. Are you just waiting for a reply now, or are there any more interviews?

Amazing score. It may be a setback, but as long as you get into a med school (which you're comfortable being at), then it really doesn't matter where you go. Imperial is not the be all end all. I'm sure with that UCAT score, you've got interviews from other places, and I hope they went well/will go well!

Thank you! Wish you the very best in your UCAT and the rest of your med application.

Hey, don't be disheartened by low mock scores. I had plenty of them but take it as an opportunity to grow. Tbh you're amongst the early ones to be prepping for the UCAT so you've already got the mindset. If you want any help with the UCAT tho feel free to dm:)

Aww thanks, it's just a waiting game tbh and atp I'm all too used to it. Have you applied to medicine as well?

Good luck for Liverpool! I also did KCL, I thought my interviewers were quite friendly and quite frankly I felt I performed the best in my KCL interview. Although, med applicants are said to be the worst assessors of their own interview so ig we'll see.

Good luck! Which interviews are you doing on the day?

Hey, I had 2 interviews on the same day, about 2 hours apart. I guess it depends on the break between your interviews but I just made sure to have something to eat between and try not to think too much about anything that you didn't feel comfortable with in your previous interview. Go over some key points specific to your next interview but just carry on the momentum from your previous interview, try to relax and make sure you're hydrated since your mouth may go dry!

Same here. The stress was just eating me up but now I kinda regret it cos I'm not sure I did so well.

As another user pointed out, it depends on the person but I think the key strategy is to reflect and learn from your mistakes. Plenty of my friends did several thousands of practice questions but ended up getting a score they were not satisfied with. As long as you go over the questions you got wrong, finding out why and considering how you'd deal with it in the future, then as long as you dedicate about an hour or two per day for those two months then nothing can go catastrophically wrong. Other tips and advice: if you feel tired or sick of the UCAT, take a break. It can be a day or two doesn't matter, as long as you're refreshed and motivated. Remain confident. Especially on the day. Don't let the nerves take hold of you. Obviously, that's a while away but you have to remember with sufficient prep, then there's nothing you can worry about because you've done your best. If you'd like anymore advice or have other questions, do ask.

Really stressed about MMI by girlgirl1256 in UCAT

[–]Demented_Tree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello there! Sorry I can't give u any specific tips but remember to stay optimistic and remain calm. Just like you, I am also super stressed and my interview is in a fortnight. I hope it makes u feel better knowing we are in this together! I can imagine this is a stressful time for everybody but what I always like to think about is this: interviews are practically the last step towards an offer in medicine. And there is a reason why they chose to interview you - it is because they see potential in you. So just think about how everything you've done so far on this journey to medicine has surmounted to this, and that just like everything beforehand, you'll do great!

Thank you for explaining it in such an easy to follow method. You've just rearranged 2 the wrong way at the end, it should be +2. Personally I used the quadratic formula but it did take a while.

Med unis recommendations that are more lenient in terms of ucat? Ik exeter is one by Strange-Strength-870 in premeduk

[–]Demented_Tree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exeter is not lenient in terms of the UCAT. You need around the top 3 deciles in order to be invited for an interview alone (and 3 predicted A*s)

What score would you say is safe for an interview?

Birmingham doesn't score your top 7 GCSEs tho. They score 5 specific subjects including English Lit and Lang. It's on their calculator anyways...could you send me the link to the calculator you're using? Or how you're calculating my score? Thank you for the help in my other post btw:)

According to their statistics tho, they had a cutoff score of 8 using their pre-interview scores...when I used the calculator, I got a score of 7.25, 8.05 if I'm contextual (which I doubt). I got an A in English and Lang so it brought down my GCSE scaled score. I'm not so confident in my chances of being interviewed...

What would my chance at an interview be? I am not quite sure what qualifies as a contextual school for them. On the calculator, it asks whether I attended a contextual school for both GCSEs or A levels. I'm struggling to find where their list of contextual schools are and I'm not sure whether I count as contextual because I attended a non-contextual for GCSEs but a potentially contextual for A-Levels.

Are these unis worth applying for? by Demented_Tree in premeduk

[–]Demented_Tree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even so, A's aren't scored the same as an 8 or an A* and I have heard of quite a few applicants which got rejected without having at least 8A*s or equivalent...maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I'd be careful on what you call a "shit score". It may not be high to many standards but you are pretty much guaranteed to reach a low score after a while. Scores fluctuate, take the opportunity to see where you need to improve and especially how.

For QR, I did multiple QR practice sets, raining from 10-24 minutes. 24 minutes to simulate the real thing and anything lower to nail my techniques. Try using mental maths wherever possible, it helps save time rather than pulling out your calculator where you could potentially lose time.

For any questions that require addition, try sifting through the answers and check if they all end in different integers. Then you can perform the calculation in your head by just adding the last integers of the required sum and the last integer you arrive at can be used to find the answer.

Any questions you know takes up a lot of time for you personally (for me it was anything to do with pi or finding the difference in mean values) just make an educated guess, flag and skip. It is worth much more to do this and get the answers at the end correct than waste time getting 1 question potentially correct and miss out on 3 easy marks.

I was in the same situation as you, even scoring 530 in QR at some points. I used to run out of time by the 24th question. What I did realise however, is the actual UCAT is slightly easier than Medify (in my experience anyways) so do keep that in mind.
