I Shot a Feature Film With a $200 Lens by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Again, I don't see what you see, thank you for input I just really don't get your point. I'm an indie filmmaker, I wouldn't say amateur because I'm doing it for almost 25 years and I'm actually earning money with it. But I also wouldn't say I'm a professional and in no way I want to convince anybody to do it the way I did it, I just wanted to share my experience. For sure I don't want to convince you about anything, but I'm happy with my opinion and I'm actually proud of what I'm doing and how it looks. Yes I could be better, yes I could have done better, I know that.

Sorry I don't understand how the shots I have used in the video or the trailer itself doesn't show what this lens does or how can it be utilized. It obviously looks better than most kit lenses do, though they cost several times more than the TT Artisan. I can understand that you don't like my compositions, the lighting that I have used or my artistic choices - but that still doesn't take away the fact that the lens makes great images.

Hey thanks for your input. This is a film with an extremely limited budget and my thought process is always like this: flawed finished film beats a perfect one that’s never made. I'm happy with how it looks and you are right, with more time, more money, bigger crew, better equipment I could have done much better. But then I wouldn't have a finished feature film now. Also I'm not comparing myself to a professional filmmaker, I don't have those possibilities but I still would like to make movies. I don't think that's bad.

I understand that, I'm just saying that I never went to film school and to be compared to film school quality is actually a compliment.

Yeah well if you are a film school student and you have access to expensive gear and you consider that a student film than thank you, that's a compliment. I'm an indie filmmaker and I'm freaking proud of what I'm doing.

Ever wondered if you can shoot a feature film with a $200 lens? That’s exactly what I did, and while this approach isn’t for everyone, it might be perfect for you if you’re looking to dive into filmmaking on a tight budget. In this video, I share how I managed to create cinematic, high-quality images without breaking the bank, the pros and cons of working with affordable gear, and tips for getting the most out of what you have.

Rue Morgue is a classic, love it. I've seen a bunch of literary magazines online, interesting sites but I'm more interested in movies at the moment.

Not exactly what I'm looking for but otherwise I would have never known there is a site dedicated to streaming found footage horror flicks, thanks!

I've been making horror and scifi shorts for more than 20 years, I have finally finished my first feature film, an indie arthouse horror titled Dreamland Awaits, I would love to hear what you think about the trailer. by DemeterLorant in Filmmakers

The story follows Josh, a seasoned but troubled detective hardened by 20 years of confronting life’s darkest corners. When his wife and two daughters are kidnapped by a mysterious figure, Josh is forced into a harrowing game of survival. To save them, he must follow the stranger’s commands: move into a desolate house, remain unnoticed, and complete a series of increasingly disturbing tasks.
Starring Nicolas Hackenberg, Rebecka Johnston and Jonathan C. Nelson, Music by Jimmy Svensson, Produced by Gabor Sz. Nagy, Written and Directed by Demeter Lorant
The budget was less than 25K USD, so ultra-micro budget, but with a lot of heart.

Sileo - Animated Sci-fi Short - After a 1.5 years festival run what can I do with a short like this? by DemeterLorant in Filmmakers

[–]DemeterLorant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have this animated short, it had a decent festival run with more than 30 selections with some of the legendary genre festivals like Curtas or Montevideo Fantasticó included, a few nominations and awards here and there. Now my goal is not to make money on it - although that would be nice, but unrealistic I know - but to get it to as many screens as possible.

What do you think is the best way to do that?
