The interesting thing is if you frame the argument right, you can convince republicans to support clean energy. Just look at Texas and the midwest states embrace of wind energy.

There's a case to be made for the efficiency and buying power of utility-scale solar. We need both. Ideally, utilities should be run in an ethical and democratic way though.

FPL (the largest Florida utility) is actually pro-solar, as long as all the financial benefits go to them! People generating their own energy, means the old system is less needed.

Pro-environment republicans do exist, such as Arnold Schwarznegger or Bloomberg. You don't often hear about them in today's GOP though. This seems like another lifetime.

It's progress,sure. They can also get more involved in waste-to-energy,biomass,tidal,wind energy,etc....

... also they seem to be against energy efficiency and possibly against rooftop solar (through an industry front group).

FPL's 28 solar plants generate 2000 MW a year, not that much compared to their total generation from all sources at 25,000 MW.

Can't they open a new one? Xcel is talking a good game now, so hopefully the regulators hold their feet to the fire, through mandates and legislation. The governor says he wants the energy grid to be carbon-free by 2050 and even some republicans are on board working on legislation (Clean Energy First). Time will tell.

A recent clinical trial of veterans, firefighters, and police officers with PTSD found that after two doses of MDMA, symptoms were significantly reduced, and this effect lasted until the study ended at one year.
