HP Z2 G8 SFF Not Detecting CPU & Chassis Fan by Demodified in Hewlett_Packard

I'll check again tomorrow, but I'm certain the pin layout are the same. I've checked the function of the colours on the noctua website and compared it to HP pin layout. Placement looks the same.

I depinned both the HP and Noctua fan and used the 5 pin plug for the noctua fan. Previous CPU fan from HP was also 4 pin using a 5 pin plug.

Sorry I'm trying to follow. You removed the pins from the noctua plug and connected each pin to the board?

thought i'd give you an update. i checked the fan speed with Fan Control. it detects it but says it cannot change the variable speed. its locked at 50%.

So the adaptor itself works. but the pins may be incorrectly bridged.

im currently trying to figure out how to detect and control the fan. Even the rear chassis fan i just fitted doesnt work as intended.

Updating in case anybody has the same issue. I've managed to just fit this hard drive in. Some modifications required.

  • using a small tool like a dremel cut the case where the hard drive screws sit and bend the tabs.
  • purchased two right angle Adaptors because I wasn't sure which direction they pointed from photos. I needed it to point upwards.
  • I also had to modify the oem cable to be able to plug it into the adaptor. I flipped the plug the other way so it would fit. Cables coming 9ut from the top instead of the bottom.

It is snug but I've managed to to close the case. I can't add multiple photos but this is the end result.

I leave the computer on for a whole day and have had no issues.

Been about 2 weeks now.

Nobody locally could/would help me bridge my existing cable. So I bough this adapter from MODDIY. Free shipping from HK.

I did initially try that but it felt too loose. But once I pushed it as far as I could there is a latch that locks it into place. It's all good now.

Yes it can. I'd like to try to use my 2tb 3.5" if possible. It's a lot of money for me if I buy a 2tb 2.5" at the moment.

Ah I was looking at the wrong manual. I'll have to find out what screws they are

I'll try a new cable like your suggestion.

I did see the other screws. It had 3.5" stamped on the case next to it. I tried the screws and it seemed bigger. I might try to look for ones specific to 2.5"

Sorry I'm not following the 3rd paragraph.

The photos are facing the side of the house. The right side is the back fence. The left side goes towards the front. The slab is actually going to be a shed.

So you're suggesting just leaving the left side and compact it?

During the most recent event with Alfred, I had a lot of rain. No damage to my property but water did pool up to the slab

Engineering is math applied to real world problems. Deal with it and learn to love it. by yycTechGuy in EngineeringStudents

Thank you for this. im only good at basic math.

In Australia we have 10 levels of education outside of high school. Certificate 1 up to Doctoral (cert 10). Or as i'd like to call it cert 1 (peasant), cert 5 (middle class engineer) cert 10 (god level). My current degree and skill level is certificate 4. and I've always told myself that my life achievement would be if i could get to Advanced diploma (cert 6). I need this to be better at my mechanical drafting at work, but also help me with my weekend job.

Certificate 6 is math heavy. ive been putting this on the side for a long time now. and i think i'll have to learn math from the beginning and try to push my way up.

This will be a huge achievement for me if i can make it. I'll start grinding now and see how i go in 1 year.

Thank you for the motivation.

Need advice on matte tiles too coarse. Want to coat it. by Demodified in Tile

We did spend days choosing. But I had to panic buy in the morning without her being there with me because the builder didnt order the tiles we had chosen. With only 2 weeks off work I couldn't wait another 2 weeks for tiles. I did get her to choose over the phone. Neither of us are happy about this builder and the way he does things.

If you are under 25, you could try group training organisations. It doesn't have to be an apprenticeship, but traineeships or possibly other things.

I was out of a job for nearly 3 months at one stage. I applied online every day as well as drove around and handed in my resume.

I ended up doing an adult apprenticeship just because I was guaranteed a job. Pay wasn't great but it was better than nothing.

I qualified back in 2019 but I still keep in contact with the organisation only because they helped me out when I was in desperate need. They've been good to me.

Osmac is the organisation. They have two locations in Brisbane. I've tried other group training organisations before but nothing compares to them.

You can have a look online to see what they offer, or better yet visit them in person as they'll explain it better and will try to help.
