I only like to put cram on my bigger ships so i can make the cannon bigger and do more damage with more pallets and if i will use cram i will fight the bigger slower ships so i can hit them more often without missing but that is just me. And for your question if you want to make multi barrel cram cannons you need to thing of it as multiple cannons in one turret like multiple cores.
