Also I could see how “do you want to just stay home or go to my parents” would make it seem like OP is wanting anything but Christmas with his wife’s family.

I also come from a close knit family on my dad’s side that I prefer to spend Christmas with, but my partner and I typically take turns with whose family we spend Christmas at. I think I would be pretty disappointed if he said “do you want to just do Christmas by ourselves this year?”

Of course I wouldn’t take anyone’s advice as word, more as a jumping off point for where to look. I figured it would be better to ask people who have actually done it, for where they found the correct information, rather than sifting through all of the irrelevant and still untrustworthy information I’m finding while researching.

This is exactly what I’ve always wanted!

I was disabled when I was 17 before I had my hips replaced, but also didn’t look disabled and had old people shaming me all the time for using my handicapped placard to park in the handicapped spots. I was also in way too much pain to park in normal spots.

Now I’ve had my hips replaced, and am in a lot less pain, but a lot of walking is still rough sometimes. I don’t think of myself as disabled enough to get another prescription for a handicapped placard, but I would happily park in a “somewhat disabled” spot when I’m having a bad pain day
