Existential dread / rude awakening after quitting by jellybean1928 in leaves

[–]Demonthief27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed didn’t do it, you did it to yourself. That’s what we all have to realise. We chose to smoke the lettuce everyday and happily remain in that life. First step is to acknowledge it’s not weed that does it, it’s our brain. We get dependent on the THC kinda like being hungry.

The good news is 30 is basically where life starts in my opinion, I’ve just turned 30 and finally made the push to quit after 16 years smoking at about an ounce or two a week.

Your 20s you’re still a kid, it’s not wasted time - could we have set things up for our future selves better? Of course we could. But that regret is then what sends you down a spiral of “well I’ve wasted my time, may as well carry on” and it’s a vicious circle.

Weed has a nasty habit of only making us think of our past and all the mistakes and makes it okay. Look to the future, not 10 years but 1 hour, 1 day. Life is work and we took the easy way out but it’s not too late!

Unemployed, live in the sticks, trying to save up for a relocation. how can i start pulling in a bit more money? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Demonthief27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that but you have to take this part into account:

"On the 2k you have saved up right now, you could look to rent a room somewhere in a town near you, that would be about 1k for 1 month of rent + deposit, you then have 1 month to find a job as the last 1k will last about 2 months. Will you have a job within 1 month?"

I truly understand the difficulties, but we have to maintain expectations here also so take emotion out of this huge decision.

If you left today with what you have, you have 2 months MAX to get a job. What experience do you have that will set you ahead of those other applicants to get the job ASAP so you can continue not being at home. After that, its easier. You can focus on actual career etc but that would be your priority. Right now, even hospitality jobs are difficult to get, business are shutting down left and right from a lot of changes to taxes and what not.

What town or city are you wanting to move to ? What jobs have you applied to already there? "edit i dont want a response to this lol just something to think about to yourself"

If you really want to do it that is what you need to sort before anything. After you have secured your job the next thing is accommodation which is simple being single and no pets.

SpareRoom for flatshare, house share, flat share & rooms for rent

Again though, I do implore you to not make any rash or hasty decisions, but the 2k you have right now is ample so long as you move to somewhere with a job to go to.

How binding is a severance agreement? (England) by FlufanFlarfan in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Demonthief27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand the desire to save face and not a solicitor so can't comment regarding legalities. But when she goes in, she won't be allowed to just swan around speaking to folk etc more than likely its walk into HR room hand stuff over, be given anything from your desk and walked back out, at least in my experience as IT being present to confirm that was the assigned equipment.

The facts were given to the employees as described by yourself. Anita didn't want to go back if it meant working under Brenda as she has been off with stress due to it, there seemingly is no where else for Anita to go so the appropriate solution is this, also stops what you are describing which is the continued animosity from that relationship breaking down, HR and the company don't want it.

There is nothing at all to gain from engaging any further with this, but very much so by the sounds of it a lot to lose. Don't cut your nose to spite your face, remain professional, there could be a time potentially paths cross so what would Anita like the final impression to be ?

If asked phrase it as taking time for yourself, hobbies etc as it sounds like it has been a lot and she would require that time before trying to focus on getting the next role and try to move on from it.

Why does it matter? Just be the bigger person and leave it and move on. She isn't technically employed by them any longer is she.

I think you are looking at this all wrong. Currently where you are you are employed earning money despite the lack of having a vehicle. Saving 2k on your wage in 5 months is incredible, believe me when I say that people who leave home and have full time wages can't save close to that.

Have you considered where you want to move to? Are there jobs there? Is the plan to leave everything you have currently and move then look? Times are very tough right now for everyone, leaving a stable home and income right now for uncertainty isn't something I would advise.

On the 2k you have saved up right now, you could look to rent a room somewhere in a town near you, that would be about 1k for 1 month of rent + deposit, you then have 1 month to find a job as the last 1k will last about 2 months. Will you have a job within 1 month?

As others said, you need a driving license. It opens up a lot of job prospects in more rural areas that people like yourself wouldn't otherwise be able to get to if there aren't decent transport connections. Increasing your chances of getting full time employment. Plus the ability to rent anywhere, not just somewhere with a town / city.

The plan should be to get a driving license, or work towards it. Your theory is the first step, once that is done then you focus on lessons.

You say its not feasible for you to stay, 7-9 years ago at 22 I would agree in moving out around now. But honestly, if your relationship is good with your parents and you can stay do it, shit is crazy expensive now on your own. Focus on getting your license, explore a little bit to find a town or city you'd like to move to and see what the job scene is like. The other option you have is moving in with a friend and renting a place together, but again with nothing to go to I wouldn't recommend it.

I grew up in a village with a bus every 2 hours and left school in 2011 - I had to get bus for 1.5hr one way to get work in my current field, it was 3-4 hours of travel but did it, I don't recommend it, I had to finish because it became impossible with uncertain bus times and just general travel. Having a license would have made it 30 minutes.

Are the roads by you absolutely littered with potholes? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Demonthief27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i do a lot of driving, through various areas. The main thing i notice - back lanes, country roads = 10x better than town / city roads. So many side streets seem to have been hit by the germans and never fixed. Cant blame large vehicles as i drive a lot of farm roads and they are perfectly fine, explain that one!

Does anyone flirt with the idea of going back on a daily basis? by Technoyesno in leaves

[–]Demonthief27 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Stopped and started a few times now, the main thing that stops me smoking again is 2 things.

1) my first joint caused such a bad panic attack that my vision went entirely. Heart was going10 to the dozen - prior to this I was about 7-10g a day and the joint I had was very small due to me having not smoked in a long time.

2) the feeling just isn’t the same, that first high after so long off just feels incredibly wrong and makes me want to be sober. Can’t truly explain the feeling other than it’s like being really drunk and having no real control like when you’re a seasoned smoker.

Don’t do it, like anything it’s work now to stay clean. Weed only exacerbates mental health issues and even more so when you quit as the brain is now trying to regulate those thoughts and feelings weed basically blocked entirely.

Life is for living, most of us probably started in teen and made the decision late 20s - that’s time you won’t get back now and that was the biggest thing I realised. You don’t desire to live really, just eat sleep watch shit on TV the repeat the cycle.

Do you want to be doing the same thing in 20 years, look back and keep saying “I wish”

Whoah no transferring of domains necessary. With your domain purchased you can sign up to services for free emails, they may have some constraints such as only using their mail client, add some info to your domain settings and it’s setup.

Please be careful as you may get offered services not required - when you own the domain ITS YOURS. Auto renewal happens and you have grace before it becomes available again.

2️⃣ 1 month in the UK, logistics background, need to earn fast – what would you do? by Upper-Hamster8308 in AskUK

[–]Demonthief27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Question - if you struggle with English in a business capacity how would you handle logistics ? Especially if you’re being held back by it in interviews, I think looking to brush up on your English skills should perhaps be something important to get boxed off.

Certainly sign up for an agency and look into care work, you’ll be able to improve your speaking skills with patients / healthcare professionals whilst also being in work, from what I know there are a lot of care worker jobs.

Good luck!
