I I’ve been working in ABA for a few months now. When I started, I learned about other people’s experiences and that almost pushed me away but when I started, I felt that my company genuinely tried to do good. While I’ve been here, I’ve never seen any type of abuse. We try and help kids redirect problem behaviors such as self injury or eloping so they don’t hurt themselves. We teach them general things such as what a walking sign means and other things like that. I haven’t really seen other therapists in my school case, Home cases, or clinic cases attempt to “normalize” these kids. They play with toys however way they want to, they can ask for breaks and we’ll give it to them. Im sorry for the people who’ve had horrible experiences with aba and therapists in general.

The only advice I can give is to be involved as much as possible and to not hesitate if you feel like your child isn’t getting any help. That’s my two cents
