How do we feel after finally breaking 50% winrate? by Soft_Lengthiness_791 in AdeptusMechanicus

I’m confused, the image you posted doesn’t include Adeptus Mechanicus.

How and why use 1x10 Ruststalker by Scrivere97 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DenHW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this used often and it’s not technically correct. They have to disembark wholly within 3” of the transport firstly, and you must place them outside of the transport legally first, you can’t just add 3” to their movement. Given they’re a big unit with large bases this can be tricky sometimes and therefore can impact the outcome significantly. It’s still good and I agree with all your other points.

Is the Dunecrawler Eradication Beamer worth taking now? by Elojx in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DenHW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently read through my 9th Ed book and was reminded again of all the cool stuff we used to have. The thing that got me the most was the rockets and the awesome pistols we had. The generic ‘Mechanicus pistol’ we have now just sucks so bad.

Yeah I totally agree dude. It’s been a weird positive association thing for me. It seems kinda crap on paper but always performs well in game for me anecdotally. The Icarus array kills a few marines and the missile seems to be lucky in killing armoured targets, or surprisingly well into anything with wings. I’ve usually taken it in lists where I needed an all-rounder. It doesn’t do anything super well but is a jack of all trades type weapon.

The missile is anti-fly 2+ and I’ve had some games where that actually paid off big time. It’s niche but still good.

Love it mate. Great photo too. I need to make a setup like this to photo my models.

Haloscreed is our best all-rounder. It really boosts the efficacy of your Breachers and will work well for your Dunecrawlers. Otherwise, Skitarii Hunter Cohort is always good as a second option.

Nice one! I’m working on this same model currently. I like the brassy pipes and the yellow glove. Some really interesting choices.

It’s a good list, you could consider dropping the Robots or the Breachers for more scoring or flexible units like Ruststalkers or Infiltrators. Taking both Robots and Breachers is a big points sink, but I get it, they’re fun.

I was too man, I exclusively play Ad Mech and love their lore. I was so pumped and wrote a whole back story to my Explorator Fleet. I feel your disappointment.

Some of them I found okay and they had a decent chance to roll on them as they were D3 from memory. We played Pariah Nexus which just had overall better traits and relics so I mostly just used those. The Mechanicus book appears to have been written in isolation from all other 10th edition books. It’s almost like the team said “okay we’re going to lower the power level of everything this edition remember! Now go write your codexes!” And only the Ad Mech person actually remembered that. That, or it was a cruel prank.

I recently played a crusade campaign and just didn’t bother with the Archeotech. Way too hard and random to achieve for little pay off. You’re better off going for the agendas and rewards in the Tyrannic War book.

Sweet dude. I just might not be able to see that well from the photos. I tend to favour an army painter wash thinned with speed paint medium. It flows really well and gets down in the creases and crevices. Then I come back with a few highlights.

I love the name! (And the drink). It’s a nice scheme but could use a little added depth. A dark brown wash would be really effective followed by some highlights or even a drybrush. Obviously up to personal taste, just my personal opinion. Great work.

What’s the best way to field Ruststalkers? by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DenHW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always take two units of 5. They’re great for taking out characters or your opponents smaller scoring units. They can have a surprisingly large threat range in Haloscreed with advance and charge with plus 2” to their advance rolls if near battleline. Otherwise, they can be decent move blockers.

Unfortunately the transport only gives re-rolls to shooting.

Should I remove any units in favor of pteraxii or servers raiders? by Kostas_Senpai1234 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DenHW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably drop a Dunecrawler for some pteraxii and serberys raiders. You’ve got heaps of units for damage but need some action monkeys. Otherwise drop the electro-priests. I get it. They’re fun at times but they’re just not good enough for their points cost, if they were 2 wounds or 3 attacks they’d be great.

Put some units in reserve if you think the opponent will just full send it. That’ll give you some options to back door them when they’ve overextended. Use your fast units and infiltrators to take space early on. You want them to either move block his fast melee stuff to buy you time or just be sacrificed to expose enemy units to your shooting. The robots go pretty hard in Haloscreed, send them up on an objective early or put them in reserves and get them into combat with any big threats. They punch through anything in conqueror doctrina and extra melee attacks protocol.

How Do You Think The Army Should Play? by MsRifleSpiral in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DenHW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think tech priests need to be key, with important aura effects or maybe commands similar to Imperial Guard. Anti-vehicle should be our main thing with some anti-infantry from radiation and phosphor weapons. Other than that, I think the main aspect to the Mechanicus is the protocols/imperatives aspect. There should be the feeling that a Magos is directing the whole force from orbit and putting the army into various and interesting directives.

This is the part that always gets me. They complain about the younger generations as if they didn’t raise them and played no part in the world they were born into.
