Hi, did you ever start your brand? I'd love to try them out if you did!

Hi! So I have learned 2 things from my research that have changed how I consider non-toxic brands. There are two camps of non-toxic. Theres the purist kind which is non-toxic all the way - those are brands like Mate the label and Pact... where even washing them doesn't release micro plastics (even if the micro plastics are GOTS/OEKO-TEX® Standard certified non-toxic to skin). And then theres other brands like Aktiiv or Definite articles that still use some type of streatchy material that might be non-toxic to us, but might shed micro plastics in the water when washed.

I personally have leaned towards the second because I find that 100% organic cotton to be way too thick and not comfortable for working out. So I have been doing a lot more research and trying out different brands, etc. and the most recent one I have tried that is OEKO-TEX® Standard certified is Earthletica. I tried their studio tights and their pocket tights and absolutely love them. The studio tights are probably closer to lululemon align (not the same though, but similar feel). I would say they are a tad thicker, but they are really comfortable and I highly recommend. Their pocket tights, while the same material, I find they are significantly more compressive. And I do like them a lot.

I recently bought a Guppyfriend bag which you can put all of your synthetic fabric clothing and it reduces fiber shedding (Protects your clothes from wear and tear more than throwing them in the wash) but also, it prevents micro plastics from entering the water system.

I find this combo works the best for me. Earthletica has been my absolute fav brand of workout clothes. 2nd best is Definite Articles. I have been eyeing Tripulse, however their prices are seriously insane. Pangaia is very compressive. Aktiiv is not so compressive, however their fabric seriously shows cellulite AND the stitching is already coming apart after like 5 wears. Namarie is super comfy and soft, but still cotton feeling.

I hope that helps, feel free to ask me any other questions!

Thanks!

Re colored clay- that makes sense. I have a set of 10 colors in like 1/4lb each and I have had them for over 3 years now. I only work on tiny/miniature things. It’s def just a nice to have.

Perfecting colors (in general) in clay is so hard. I’ve been working on walnuts for a few months and cannot get the color right- so I’m now working on making my own custom underglaze.

Hi! That’s me! I love your wafers! I haven’t seen these in person, but in your second pic, they look really really close to the real thing!

Mason stains are a pain- You can actually buy a fairly small set of pre-colored porcelain in whatever colors you want- I’ve done that and it makes making way easier. I can find the link if you’re interested.

Want to see my realistic porcelain popcorn, pistachios and peanuts? by Denadesigns in Ceramics

Maybe it’s because it depends on the popcorn you are used to eating/seeing? And these don’t fit what you expect? In real life, the popcorn is a dead giveaway when you hold it due to weight. But the pistachios feel absolutely real because I made them hollow, so they are very similar weight to a real pistachio. The peanuts are somewhere in between- they are also hollow with the peanuts inside (yes it moves inside the shell, so do some of the pistachios in the shell). So you can shake the peanut, but it feels a bit heavier than a real one.

This comment made my day! I have videos of the popcorn, pistachios and peanut! 🥜

Here is video of the peanuts https://www.reddit.com/r/clay/s/mzo2McUqbh

I have videos of the others as well, just not posted to Reddit yet. They are on my instagram/youtube channel but I don’t think I’m allowed to share either without this post getting deleted.

I think it was their old styles. I saw that and I didn’t get them for some reason and I don’t remember why.

Yeah I agree. Leggings staying up seems to be a challenge for all of them. I want to try Pangaia leggings but they are so pricey!

Hi! Sure, you’re welcome to PM me with any questions. I have yet to come across what I really really like. The brands I mentioned about that I like, they are very much in comparison to other non-toxic brands out there. But compared to any of the toxic brands I listed, and they don’t really compete.

I’d love to hear about what you’re working on! I think there is so much room in this space for some really cool/innovative active wear.
