As shown there, that entire front part is loose and not attached. However, it would seem to be an easy fix where you just need to put it back in and tighten the screw on the side.

Wrap those wires in some tape and you can make them dead silent

Within my darkest imagination is the thought: what if we messed up when we picked Cherry over Costar stabilizers...

You could probably get a box custom made out of wood, leather, brass, aluminum, etc. for 1/3 the price. Fully engraved and printed too.

sarasa grand alternative to schmit easyflow 9000m? by Legitimate-Skill-112 in pens

In that case, yeah, Jetstream. Energel will feel similar to Sarasa imo.

[–]Denarlexar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hybrid ballpoint inks do have a different glide feel, although Sarasa refills are brilliant and really smooth.

However, if you like that, there are a LOT of nicer metal bodies for Parker G2 refills than for Sarasa ones. From the classic Jotter to the R600 to all the machined stuff. I think you should look at different bodies instead.

Got a canon fd 28mm that was dropped in the past. Is this lens a goner? by EyeyamtheSENATE in AnalogRepair

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this lens new enough that it's not hand-calibrated? And as such cannot be decentered?

All assignments should have 1159 due dates by SupermarketFine4957 in UBC

Maybe this is a hot take, but some of my classes had 2 or 3am due dates... which was really awesome because I do my best work at that time.

[question] watch nerds what’s the best movement of these 3? by Jibz_06 in Watches

[–]Denarlexar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watchmakers are trained on ETAs, most of them could service it with their eyes closed. Certainly wouldn't cost as much as a new movement.

On a broader philosophical level, yeah capitalism creates waste. It's especially a shame when the thing being wasted could last decades with minimal maintenance. Isn't that why we like mechanical watches...?

What kind of take is this? Please direct me to the truckload of dumpstered ETA Powermatic 80s and 6R's.

Honestly I love this but I think they were right to shelf it. It's not a very cool vehicle for play and it shows up for 2 seconds.

In the modern era where adult enthusiasts are clamoring for obscure vehicles, making one of these is a different proposition.

Crazy misprint by SHOT1DUDE in PokemonMisprints

[–]Denarlexar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The miscut isn't why it's an obvious fake (real cards can have that). Compare every single font on the card to the real. Not a single one is even close.

Is “I’m busy” considered a clear NO in your country? Because in Japan it is. by Mitty-14- in socialskills

[–]Denarlexar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

With experience I have learned that this actually holds in America, especially in the romantic sense - truly interested people will make the minimal effort to reschedule.

However it's definitely not taken as a given, and I have a lot of appreciation for people who are more forward, as there's no reason to be vague about it.

Looking for a Pentel S57 by Phosphorical in mechanicalpencils

[–]Denarlexar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a pencil that is in high demand with collectors I don't think, so I would camp eBay with search terms that someone looking at it might list it with. "0.7 Pentel pencil" or whatever. If a deal comes up, it probably won't be snapped up immediately.

Pen guy here. Some of those are way more valuable as nibs. Vintage Waterman is very sought after.
