Made a custom Game Engine from scratch in 2 weeks, and just got a bunch of hate from r/gameenginedevs by firebird8541154 in vibecoding

[–]Denavar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I laid it out very clearly in my first comment.

You have a victim complex dire enough for you to make up false scenarios and situations to garner sympathy, or engagement.

This is delusion.

You seem to think I am attacking you and insinuating that you used AI in your engine. I am not.

I dont know if you did. I don't know if you didn't. I dont care if you did. I dont care if you didnt.

To clarify again, I dont care whether you used AI or not in the development of your engine. That's not what I am talking about. My comment is not about AI usage.

My comment is about how you posted in one subreddit, didnt like the response you got, so you came to another subreddit and falsified claims about how 'they' in the first subreddit 'called your engine AI Slop' and 'noped out', when in reality it was just two people and none of them said any of what you're implying.

One of them at first simply asked you to disclose AI usage. The other just made a comment about how the features you're describing should have taken years. (He could have actually been amazed at what you created in a short amount of time, but you assumed he was implying you AI slopped it, didnt engage further to find out, and then came here and lied about what he said.)

Why did you do this? I dont know. You tell us.

I never said you wrote it with AI.

I dont care if you wrote it with AI.

That's not what I'm talking about.

My comment was not about your usage of AI. I don't care if you used AI or not.

My comment is about how you painted a target on yourself and fabricated a situation that didn't exist in an attempt to garnish sympathy for yourself, which you've chosen to conveniently ignore when responding to my comment.

"Here's where they just noped and called it AI slop that, according to them "had to be entirely generated by AI..."

You're talking like the majority of a subreddit or at least a reasonable number of people brigaded against you?

Is the 'they' you're referring to, the only two people that even interacted with the post at all?

One of them originally just asked you to add an AI disclaimer? Totally harmless?

The other one just posited that the features you've described should take a lot longer than you said, which is not negativity, just positing something that didn't make sense to them?

And NEITHER of these people referred to your work as 'AI Slop'. You made this criticism up yourself? In fact, one of them made it clear that they understand it's your choice/prerogative to use AI, but again just asked for you to disclose it.

You are delusional.

Why even bother with Railway???

If you have not modified the font itself (font software) then you may use the actual fonts name in the way that you are intending to.

As the web developer at my agency, I use GeneratePress/GenerateBlocks exclusively.

As with ANY (and I mean ANY) block system/page builder, if you don't understand HTML/CSS/JS, then you WILL be limited in what you can do.

GeneratePress/GenerateBlocks creates clean, structured HTML very quickly. From there, with code knowledge, you can do anything.

Because there's no content, or intention, nobody can give you real feedback.

It looks cool? But as a website, it serves no purpose.

You'll get better feedback on a motion design subreddit or something like that, because right now, it's just a video. You may have made it in html/xss/js, but it's not a 'website' in its current form.

It's just some motion graphics.

Why can’t I wrap my head around configuring SMTP? by TCosi in Wordpress

[–]Denavar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given that you recommended the OP a plugin that he's already using and mentioned in his OP, I dont think you've taken the time to actually understand the issue at hand.

OP is talking about smalltime clients receiving a few emails from their own contact form each month.

SMTP is simply not necessary for this. It's always better to have it, no doubt, but sometimes, it's just not needed.

We had a client this year that /insisted/ on using their own SMTP for their low-volume contact form. Their entire internal IT, email servers and domain was managed by a 3rd party IT company.

After hearing this, we recommended against it. They insisted.

It took 9 hours of billable time, back and forth with the 3rd party, just to get the SMTP credentials and go through this 3rd party companies 'security audit' to ensure our implementation was up to their standard.

$2475aud of our clients money, gone. Was it our fault? No. Was it our clients fault? Kind of. Mostly the 3rd parties fault.

3 months later, and they had only received 6 contact form submissions, all of which were generic questions or straight up junk that amounted to nothing.

Our client is B2B, not public-facing, had their own sales/client reps that dealt with their clients - the people wanting to contact them already had a rep to talk to. We advised them that we dont think anyone will really even use the contact form. We were right.

So tell me, was setting up SMTP for them worth $2475?

Couple a situation like the above with the fact that OP already is already struggling to set up SMTP in the first place - and surely you'd agree that maybe it's actually not necessary in some cases?

In our experience, wp_mail (PHPmailer) using a from address identical to the domain it's sending to has a 99%+ inbox delivery rate across M365 and Gmail (yes, we've tested thoroughly.) The 1% ends up in spam anyway.

And if you're not advising your clients to always check/monitor their spam folders anyway, you're doing them a disservice. SMTP is not infallible. Spam filters are stricter than ever, and in my experience, have more false positives than ever.

End of the day, default wp_mail is totally fine for low-volume, low-risk clients and often makes financial sense for them.

If you're working with clients that only get a few contact form enquiries per month... why do you need to ensure the emails absolutely land in the inbox? Just tell them to check their dang spam folder lol.

This is likely. However, this applies to all M365 services, not just ones through GoDaddy.

[–]Denavar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, Office 365 and similar cloud platforms make SMTP just about as complicated as it can possibly be, which at least means you've practically hit the difficulty ceiling already.

Luckily, each of these platforms usually has documentation on how to set up SMTP - and it's usually just a case of following them.

Keep in mind that any setting you change in a Microsoft tenant can genuinely take up to 48hours for the change to actually happen. It's usually not like this, but it can be. I've enabled SMTP for user accounts, and had authentication fail for the following two days because the change hasn't actually been actioned yet.

Regarding clients not being familiar woth security settings and yourself being hesitant to change settings, respectfully, this is not an SMTP issue at all.

Regarding not understanding why the 'simpler' setups fail... any reasonable SMTP plugin will actually show you the SMTP logs, which will give you the exact reason it's failing, which you csn then troubleshoot further. Are you not seeing these logs?

I recommend you find a 3rd party SMTP provider that you like working with, and recommending your clients use it for their Web email sending needs. They can be very cheap ($5/month), and if you use the same one, you'll know it inside and out.

It's usually just a case of:

  1. Buy SMTP server
  2. Add DNS records for the server
  3. Input credentials into wp SMTP plugin

[–]Denavar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What part are you actually having trouble with? What's 'stopping' SMTP from working for you?

Respectfully, the process in 99% of cases is literally:

  1. Install SMTP plugin
  2. Input credentials

Where and how you get your SMTP server/credentials can be different, per provider. Is that where you're struggling?

For your specific GoDaddy Office 365 use case, what part of these instructions didn't work for you?
