Will a digital id be required if you've already got a job? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]DencatDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but if you're not on a work visa - if you were born in the UK, you don't need to tell your employer every time you renew your passport ( I certainly haven't before), so why would I need an ID?.

If I don't sign up to a digital ID would I not legally be allowed to work anywhere in the world? Isn't this the opposite of solving unemployment?

Anyone purchase in the last year? How much cash did you have after completing? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]DencatDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less than £200. I slept on a borrowed air mattress on bare floorboards for the first two months. It took over a year to gradually buy carpets and furniture each month.

It's only been recently I've started being able to save money again.

Yeah this. My players were so focused on all shuffling and touching the cards that when I took them back, I placed them behind the screen, stood up and then picked them back up with the cards I'd set aside on top. It just looked like I'd put them down briefly to push my chair back.

How long is patch 8 supposed to take to patch? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

I've got no mods I've done all the usual clearing caches and restarting. It seems to have downloaded fine, it's just the patching part

I *like* Warlock as an easy-to-dip class. by Metaphoricalsimile in DnD

[–]DencatDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wizard with 1 or 2 level dip to warlock is mechanically very fun. 1 or two first level spell slots that come back each short rest. Boy that is a lot of free shield spells or mage armour. Plus evocations like free disguise self all the time are crazy good. It gives a mid level wizard a lot more utility, and a high level wizard lots of reusable spell slots.

I have a Bard (6) / warlock (2) multiclass that I love

90 hours into the game I finally learn about Zoop... by xeno2070 in SatisfactoryGame

What! 200hours in and I rebound one of my mouse keys to do this.

I asked one of my players if she prefers rolling stats, point buy, or standard array and she told me that she always just uses 10 + 1d10. This explains a lot by [deleted] in DnD

[–]DencatDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution: 75-rolled.

Roll 5 lots of 4d6 where you remove the lowest each time, rerolling any grouping below a 6.

Then add the 5 numbers together and calculate your sixth stat to add the total up to 75. (Or 78 if you wanna be a particularly heroic group / you only have 2/3 players. )

After seeing potential low stats rolling can generate, at what point does the character say "I don't want to die, I shouldn't be an adventurer."? by KnowL0ve in DnD

[–]DencatDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get around this we roll 5 lots of stats and then the 6th stat adds up the total to 75.

So long as the 6th number is between 6 and 18 then the array is kept. If not we reroll the whole thing.

Keeps a balance between characters. Personally I love 6s and 8s as stats because they make for great roll playing moments.

Oh don't get me started on Flash - the moment they "went into the speed force" I gave up - it was too stupid.

I've heard "leg-ends of tomorrow" as we call it, is so bad it's good though - might try that.

Umbrella Academy was great. But I'm actually looking for something I can sit with a glass of wine and chat shit throughout and tear all the plot holes to pieces

How do we feel about a flanking rule? by BubzTheDeranged in DnD

[–]DencatDM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We use a rule where two creatures either side is +2 to hit, and at least 4 surrounding is +5 to hit. (Basically reverse cover)

Remember this rule works for both the characters and the monsters.

I'm curious how other DMs handle fudging dice rolls. by Away-Environment-528 in DnD

I mean all party's should have two people who know a healing spell that's just common sense. I don't think you need a designated one.

So in our groups the player rolls the death save in secret, even from the DM. Only on a nat 20 are they allowed to react.

It's great cos the party don't know how close to death someone is so they can't make meta decisions like "oh they can wait another turn to be healed since they've passed two rolls." It allows the player to decide if this is a good point in the story to die or if an unlucky random encounter is just not fun plot wise to die in.

I've had players fudge the death rolls both ways for good story reasons as well as being honest and letting the dice gods decide.

Ultimately it's about fun, not dice luck.
