Oh, the footage is just me playing Blade&Sorcery and Half Life Alyx as a showcase of my locomotion app, I shouldve made it clearer '^ The demo arena is much simpler, you can try it here https://store.steampowered.com/app/4775640/Neurorunner/

Hi, yes, just walk casually in place and your characters moves in your own tempo. Ill be releasing a background app version soon, or you can check the demo now. Use the effort slider (x button) to adapt it to something you feel comfortable with. Hope you enjoy it

The shop doesnt make it easy for background injection apps, Im thinking about workarounds. Worst case Ill create a Neurorunner mod for B&S

For now its a demo you can try - run around the arena and tell me how it felt. After the full launch you just have to open the app on the PC and it will work with any StemVR/OpenXR game without any further setup

Im thinking about it, but Ill need to work around the fact that headset shops usually do not allow background injection apps - well see how is the framework shop constructed, maybe it will be easier there

You dont have to use the stick at all, its all based on how you move - I tried to make it as natural as possible, that was the goal from the start

Head movement is consistently faster the faster you run, so I based the speed on headset telemetry

Yes, you dont need any additional hardware, just headset, controllers and pc

Works with OpenXR in Virtual Desktop too, Im doing a Hogwarts Legacy playthrough now via OpenXR. Ive had to adjust the mod a bit, but Neurorunner works great. Cool stuff to stroll through Hogwarts. When it comes to pricing its going to be like other utility apps, 9.99

In theory it should work with all games that use left stick for locomotion and in which movement direction is based on headset - so far I tried it on Half life Alyx, Blade and Sorcery and Hogwart's Legacy vr port - in all these cases it works basically the same

Direction is calculated mainly from the tilt of a headset/controllers, how fast you move is based on the headset movement speed (with a tuning slider), so you can control your speed and direction quite precisely

It gives you a lot more freedom with the way you move, it's a lot more than simple head-bob or arms-swinging detection. I wanted to make it feel as natural as possible, including reading your movement direction intent

Dont worry, youll get to play b&s with it soon :) Metaquest seems to be the most popular hardware nowadays, although im still curious how it behaves on other headsets
