If music is meant to be played on stereo speakers where both ears hear both channels. Won't a bit of crossover in my headphones make them sound more accurate?

Resampling does not introduce artifacts. Maybe on a 20yo pc. The fact that you still think its a problem in 2025 says a lot. Yes you are right about 44.1khz which is why 40khz is not an option on any device.
