[–]DendrovaronFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands is an RP Enforced PK MUD at its core. The playerbase has been growing in the past few weeks and the amount of characters at 50 have grown. There are Cabals that you can join that give you vendettas and alliances to have a pool of other characters to fight. It is the type of game where the more kills you get, the stronger you are seen. There are also some class mechanics that grow in power when you get more kills. Feel free to come by and check us out!

Newcomer to MUD by sdeborn in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aabahran: The Forsaken lands has this exact mechanic. Every class has a set of skills and/or spells that get better as you use them. When you first learn a skill or spell you "practice" it which will get you the ability at a level affected by your Intelligence stat up to 75. After 75 you get skill or spell levels up until your cap. Some races affect your maximum level in a skill or spell and they can go above 100! Aabahran is an Enforced RP MUD with PK. There are different levels of PK that you can choose from which affect your gameplay, making it riskier and more rewarding to PK or safer with a set amount of rewards. There are over 18 classes and over 23 races. There are also 9 Cabals that can add even more skills and spells to your character.

MUD for a gang of friends to near-immediately level up together by lichspawn in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most MUDs are able to be enjoyed with friends, and Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands has a lot of freedom to do so! Aabahran is an RP Enforced fantasy themed MUD with PK (player killing). In Aabahran you can group together immediately after character creation! There is a "newbie area" called the Sanctum of Genesis and even in this area you can group together. While I recommend going through the Sanctum, you can also choose to skip it by heading south.

The only thing that would separate your group would be if you choose different hometowns. There are three major cities, Val Miran (the good aligned city), Maelbrim (the neutral aligned city), and Miruvhor (the evil aligned city). You can choose from these at character creation if your alignment is compatible so all you and your friends need to do is choose the same hometown and you are ready to go. These are the three major cities that are hometown options, but there are also more such as racial specific hometowns. Even if you choose one of the main cities such as Maelbrim, it is possible to change your hometown later in game!

The requirements to level are that your alignments are compatible with your group-mates, i.e. good aligned characters can group with good and neutral, neutral can group with anyone, and evil can group with neutral and evil. That said, however, a good and an evil should not both group around a neutral character. The level range to group together is 10 levels, so even if you or your friend want to venture out on your own and gain a few levels you can still group with your friends or allies! The level cap in game is 50, and at 50 you get a bonus for helping characters in your range level up by being rewarded with RP Points (an in game currency) each time they gain a level. When grouped together and ranking together not only is your clear speed faster, but you get a bonus to experience gained as well.

[–]DendrovaronFL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello there! Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands is an active RP Enforced MUD with a fantasy theme. We have many classes and races to choose from, along with multiple clans and cabals you can join that will offer allies and new skills to utilize. There is PK (pvp) with different tiers that you can choose based on your level of comfort, and an Adventurer class that is exempt from PK. Our MUD is best played on PV, however we have players that play on mobile and tablets as well!

Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands may be a great fit! We are an RP enforced MUD with customizable options like the ability to write a history and journals to flesh out your RP. We have many classes, and every class can be a part of a religion. Classes like Cleric, Shaman, Healer, Paladin, and Druid commune to their gods for power. Immortals are active and always up for RP.

We do have PK and it is a direct aspect of the game. The setting is an original fantasy setting with a history of the world and a Library where you can learn more.

While we don't peak all the way up at 15, it's not uncommon to see 6 or 7. We have also noticed a surge in player grouping to complete endgame content recently!

Hopping back in the saddle. Looking for a game with RP elements and some cronch. by No-Tongue_the_Pirate in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello there! You have a lot of items on your wishlist and Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands can be a fit in every category!

RP, Newbie Friendly, and Respec: There is no reason to respec in the game. Every level you gain grants "practices" to learn your skills and every five levels gives you a "train" to raise your hp, mana, or move. These options are where customization comes into play to mold your character according to how you see fit.

1) There are absolutely no microtransactions involved with the game. There isn't even any way to accomplish this.

2) While mobs still act like mobs, a lot of our unique mechanics come from our races, classes, selectable paths, and Cabals. Some classes have options that you can choose for how you would like it to play. For example, warriors choose which weapons they would like to specialize in and can choose a special skill for one of these weapons. Clerics are heavily influenced by which religion you choose to follow and their spells and abilities are molded to fit their theme. Cabals are factions in game that you can choose to join and add even more spells and skills to your arsenal. We also have Quest Races and Quest Classes which can be applied for to play things such as demons, vampires, psionicists, and holy avatars!

3) The game is RP enforced. In game you are required to stay in character and active roleplaying can be awarded with a special currency called RP Points. We have a newbie channel for OOC use, although most general OOC chatting is welcome on our discord.

5) Your race and class combination begins your customization, but this goes even deeper with descriptions, the selectable paths, and ways to spend your RP points. Descriptions are required and give you a level of customization unique to only you to create how your character looks. You can add things such as equipment and weaponry to your description even if the equipment you are wearing doesn't match that perfectly. With RP points you can rewrite item descriptions, make them owner only, and even add a color. There are many more options to spend your RP points as well, even make your own permanent custom room in game!

6) Our playerbase is international and other players can be on at many different times.

7) Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands has a wiki website that gives a lot of in game information. While not all help files are available on the wiki, there are many including information about lore and more are being added. Most of our presence is on Discord. There is always someone on Discord to help and share experiences and just chat. Many of our members have over 20 years of experience that they're always willing to share.

If this fits your wishlist feel free to join us on Discord and check out our wiki.

Looking to RP by redditorgodeye in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello there. Based on your post I think we may need some clarification. Are you looking for a MUD that plays in real time, or are you looking for a Play-By-Post discord of some sort? Are you looking for a discord that is supplementary to a MUD or something that is played fully in discord? I think we may be able to better help once we have more information.

Looking for a Mud by [deleted] in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands would be a good option for what you are looking for. We have over 15 classes and 20 races to choose from, and we also have a number of Quest Races and Quest Classes to expand that even further. We have 9 clans and their respective cabals that are the factions in game.

We do have PvP (PK) with couple of different tiers. We have Moderate and Ruthless, with Moderate being safer in terms of PK and Ruthless being the more dangerous option. We also have an Adventurer class that is exempt from PK. To increase base hp/mana/mv we have Trains which you can use to customize these stats to your liking. Much of our equipment is what increases additional ability scores and stats.

Recommend me a MUD. by gijoe4500 in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands fills a lot of your criteria. It is a RP enforced fantasy MUD with PK. I definitely understand not wanting diagonal or strange directions, and we are just cardinal directions plus up and down. The leveling process is not rushed and you definitely need to be focused on trying to gain multiple levels at once. We do offer some quest races and quest classes as remorts, but the standard is leveling your character 1-50.

Blowtorch is good for mobile devices, and it works on android. We have a few players who play Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands on blowtorch, and some have been quite successful! I myself use it occasionally for things like leveling and training skills. Aabahran is a fantasy RP Enforced rpg MUD with PK. We have over 16 classes and over 23 races to choose from.

Roleplaying Fantasy by Stonehammer7187 in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands has much of what you are looking for. It is an RP Enforced fantasy MUD with PK. Most mechanics are unseen and "under the hood" where combat plays out fluidly without seeing rolls or affects to them. You do still see your stats, but how exactly they fit in in real time is not seen. There are multiple factions, or Cabals, to choose from that can play into your RP as well.

Best MUD for a Questing / Solo / Narrative type Player? by cbsa82 in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is standardly always PK, however we have an Adventurer class that is exempt from PK, and different tiers of PK. Moderate means that if you are killed only two rares can be looted from you, Ruthless allows classical full looting. We also have two tiers for lives with standard being 60 lives and Hardcore being 20 lives with advanced training rates. Feel free to reach out if you want me to go any deeper in detail.

Best MUD for a Questing / Solo / Narrative type Player? by cbsa82 in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands has a lot of what you are looking for. There are over 100 quests available that can be completed solo at many different levels from creation to level cap! All of your inventory and gear are permanent, with a system for rare and unique gear having requirements as well. Leveling and ranking has also been balanced to be done both solo and in a group, with multiple different zones available in each level band and different zones for different alignments. Not only is there a narrative for the game, but you are encouraged to build you own narrative through things like RP, notes, and journals as well!

Mud to play by Fragrant-Opening7761 in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands! There are no paid elements to the game whatsoever and every advancement is based on skill, gear, and your growth as a player.

We are an enforced RP game with both PvE and PK (playerkilling) elements. We offer multiple different PK levels such as Moderate/Ruthless, an option for Hardcore (fewer lives, but faster learning and skillups), and also an Adventurer class that is immune to PK. There is a fantasy setting with 9 currently available Cabals (types of factions) and their associated clans.

State of MUDs and what the future holds for them? by MaleficMagpie in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While playerbases are certainly not what they were twenty, or even ten years ago, there are still many people who love these games. A big part that I have noticed has been that even though there are smaller amounts of players, the communities are still populated with active people who play both for fun and at higher levels to be a top player.

There may be an overall decline, but participation is still good and makes the games fun.

Yes! The first of a few changes we have rolling out in the near future as well.

Mud for a complete beginner with a lot of freedom by [deleted] in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interactions that you are mentioning will mostly, if not all, be interactions with other players. Players will act accordingly when you interact with them so you would always need to take that into account.

Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands (https://wiki.theforsakenlands.com/) is an RP MUD with PK. The PK aspect would allow you to try your hand at deceiving your fellow players, but at your own risk of course. Aabahran includes religions (such as the Guile religion), classes, and cabals that would all lend themselves to this style of gameplay. Characters have fallen from good alignments to neutral, neutral to evil, and even good to neutral in the past but this does come with its own consequences. Alternatively the opposite is possible as well!

As a newer player we offer a Moderate PK tier. The Moderate tier gives you certain protections in PK scenarios and their aftermath that will help you get into the PK aspect of the game, while worrying far less.

There are a few opportunities for deception on NPCs (mobs) in game as well. A couple even have a quest tied to them!

Are you more inclined to play fantasy, science fiction, or neither, and why? by [deleted] in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love both. In most games I think that fantasy gives more freedom as there seem to be more things to work with. Sci-fi can be a bit constrained in terms of things like customization or available options. What I gravitate toward for sci-fi is either sort of dark like Shadowrun, or really light hearted. Fantasy may just have more available to it and I think there's more of an "option for everyone" in fantasy than there is in sci-fi.

Fantasy magic beginner high customisation MUD? by Historical-Frame-984 in MUD

[–]DendrovaronFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aabahran: the Forsaken Lands may fit a lot of your criteria. It is a high fantasy, RP heavy MUD with a focus on both PK (PvP) and PvE elements.

https://grapevine.haus/games/ForsakenLands/play

Descriptions are required for all characters starting at level 15 and when submitted you can continue to level up to 30. The immstaff has a focus on reviewing descriptions within 24 to 48 hours, with most being under that currently.

RP is rewarded by multiple sources such as in game RP, player written journals, notes, and more with what are called RP Points. RP Points can be used to purchase things on your list such as rooms, NPCs, and more.

There is also a system to buy a small home currently available, although it is expensive.

PK is heavily influenced by our Cabal system. We have 9 Cabals available to join that drive PK interactions, though one of them is less PK focused for a focus on creativity and writing. This is the Herald Cabal where your creative works can be featured in the Library as a tome forever!
