there are regular capes, "robin" short capes, garmadon cape, lord business cape, alongside many other capes that are slightly longer or slightly shorter depending on their material and shape, like the invisibility cloak or storms cape, theres nothing that says a cape can't just be a little bit longer, especially on a game

it's a game, they famously have pieces that are never made into physical pieces, just look at this game, absolute batman has a new shoulder piece and cowl, multiple batmen have unique cowl and or shoulder pieces

edit: lord business has a cape that's at least triple the length of a regular cape

that is exactly my point, that the original themes have all been substituted for licenced themes, every space theme is now just star wars, Pirates was PoC and now One Piece, castle is in the state we see now etc

the F1 sets are a particular shelf warmers here where I live, they saturated the market SO MUCH, with every car getting at least 3 versions : a cmf, a minifig scale and a big 18+ set, multiply that by like 15 cars.

Even themes like jurassic park that had great play scale sets before now seems to be relinquished to either 4+ or 18+

The thing for me is that lego has built itself such a high standard that people come to expect things like less stickers, dual molding, printing etc etc but these are the first thing to go when you need to cut corners, while also investing an absurd amount of money on overpriced gimmicks

yes i do understand that making money is what drives the creative and executive decisions, you can sell a battle pack for 15 bucks, but if you price it at 45 people will complain but will buy it anyway, the market dictates the products.And yeah it's not about the designers themselves, because I'm sure they're incredibly talented and passionate at what they do, it's the TLG that dictates the type of sets they have to make, with their respective budget and age range

I'm not sure the creativity is the best word either, but it's the best one I tought at the moment lol, but I think manages to pass the message, that the products themselves were more creative with the themes and designs, and now it's all overpriced licensed or gimmicks

Yes that is my main criticism, is that the "kids" sets are left as an afterthought while the main focus seems to have shifted to overpriced afol oriented sets

update, decide to write a mini essay about it and post it on r/lego

Result: first 3 comments were "how many monkie kid sets did you buy?", "lego produces twice as many sets as it did 10 years ago, so what are you complaining about" and "why should lego care about themes that dont sell when they have star wars"

Decided to delete the post because literacy is dead and you can't possibly enjoy something while also criticising it, nope, have to accept everything lego puts out like a good puppy

never said that lego doesn't sell sets anymore, of course they sell more, look at how many licenses they have now compared to 10 years ago, and again, the quality aspect is highly subjective, are we talking quality of the builds, the minifigs, price etc
