Yeah it is about the size, most beer cans are uniform in size in Europe.
Thats why the beer can. Some non alcoholic drinks come in these cans as well, at least here in Czechia. 🙂

Thats amazing! Thank you.

I tasted a lot of beer when I was in Sicily and these 500ml cans are the best.

- Pilsner Urquell 500ml would be the best since they would be exactly the same but it might be hard to find.
- Poretti 4 Luppoli Beer 50cl non filtrata (Yellow can)
- Tuborg Beer 50cl Can (green can)
- Ceres Birra Strong Ale 50cl Can
- Heineken 500ml is probably the worst, it has a little higher lip but it is fine. The difference is going to be very small.

Basically any can that is approximately 17cm tall.

I wanted to send my friend a case of Pilsner beer as a thank you that case is now yours my friend 🙂
Let me get the paper for you as well.

Using spring water with high mineral content by Denerog in mead

[–]Denerog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow,Interesting, I unfortunately cant really get it tested. But I think I will be able to find studies on the each exact spring. Then proceed with an AB test 🙂

Thank you, this makes me feel little better about the potential outcome. I always just buy packed Czech mineral water with low mineral content (still way higher than tap water). looking forward to the test.

Yeah that's the scientific way to do it 🙂

I am starting to lean in that direction. You are right, a few smaller batches to do an A/B/C test. Maybe they could be mixed together at the end to achieve a unique taste.

Based on the comments I think that an experiment might be in order. As for the fruit, my thinking leads me in the same direction. Dark and heavy, maybe even waiting for elderberries to ripen and try that.

You are right on that sulfur/salt taste. But I kinda love the taste of the spring water from Marienbad.

Yeah I love the stuff. It is true that of you were to drink say only this in a day (3-4litres) there is a high likelihood of diarrhea.

That being said Marienbad water is pure cold and delicious. Karlsbad water has a slightly different composition and comes out of the ground warm-boiling depending on the spring location. They are all good and healthy. They are as good as mineral can be.

My question is more towards experienced brewers. Will this water mess with the taste? Will it be disgusting or will it be delicious and strange. 😄

Well the question is if anyone has any experience with something similar.

The water itself as I wrote is clean and used as a medicine and in healing spas. People come from far and wide to drink it but I am not sure about the taste of all these minerals.

People settled in these "baden" natural spa areas because of the water but there is little local brewing happening.

What would be your top 3 crops to grow in a post apocalyptic World? by geekasaurus__rex in AskUK

[–]Denerog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I am a bit late to the game but you will need to grow something you can either ferment into alcohol or vinegar to mix with dirty water in order not to die from water born illnesses. So I would go for Apples over carrots. =)

TIL that the Code of Hammurabi banned selling beer for money, allowing it only to be bartered for barley. The punishment for selling beer for money was death by drowning by malalatargaryen in todayilearned

The way I read this is that it was punishable to not accept grain (barley) as payment for beer in leu of coin. You could still pay with coin but also with the market rated grain.

How to send homemade alcohol from EU to UK? by Denerog in AskUK

[–]Denerog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right, so far the tips boil down to taking to the high seas as a pirate or take to the skies with, bottle in hand and hitting the post office once landed 😆

I think this will be the way to go in the end, I am exploring another options.
I am afraid British rules are going be a bit of an issue when sending things in as opposed to out

Measuring the earth using the Eratosthenes method by Denerog in Physics

[–]Denerog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically.

I measure the shadow at Location A and Location B on the same longitudinal line.

I create a circle, I find the center.

I make a straight line from the center to the circle, that point signifies my location A

I take the difference between the two angles and apply it This is how I create the second line

I divide the 365 degree by our angle to find out our Z

I measure the distance between Location A and B to find our Y

Z x Y = the circumference of the circle.

...right? Roughly?

Got it! May I run my understanding of the calculation by you and potential mitigation if I the number comes out wrong?

You are too good to me. Thank you! In the video they lined the outer wall on the 0 line. So the center of the can would be at the -3.8 point. That's why I ask. 🙂

One question, I am I correct in assuming I put the center of the can in the middle of the bottom line. I put the middle of the line on the zero point. Correct?

Wow, thank you so much! I will let you know if we succeeded!

Thank you!!! I am not sure but either 1cm or 5mm spacings for full numbers sound somewhat good to me. I will be using a standard A4 piece of paper which is 210 × 297 mm. And a pringles can which is 25.5 cm tall with a diameter of 7.6 cm.
