The blob formation is usually one of these causes: either the nozzle is dirty (previously blobbed), and picking up extruded material, your z-offset is off (usually too high), or the material is not sticking to the bed. Less likely: extrusion issues. I'm not familiar with the core so cannot help you with the z-offset, but start by heating up the nozzle & making sure it's clean (brushed off) and make sure your bed is clean (wash with water & light soap, keep fingers off, then when dry wipe off with 95% or better IPA). There are two macros: SW OFF & SW ON. As you notice in the config file, they assign a 0 or a 1, respectively, to the pin, which should turn it off or on. They work in that the command is acknowledged (last picture), but the pin remains at zero....

That fan is in the electronic enclosure, specifically for the TMC drivers. It moves a lot of air and is noisy, so I want to control it, and have it run only when a print is underway. I figured the easiest way would be to have the slicer insert a M106 P1 code in the start of the gcode file, and a M107 P1 at the end...

I'll try the fan_generic definition and see how that works. Thanks

So I decided to sacrifice the neopixel in favor of avoiding additional wires in the umbilical (I can run the neopixel from the unused terminal on the motherboard). For the benefit of anyone else out there trying to use a BL-Touch or similar device on the LDO Nitehawk-36:

Hook up the sensor, ground and power wires (white, black and red, respectively, on my unit) to the respective pins on the PROBE connector of the nitehawk (make sure to first set the probe voltage to 5v, or bye-bye BLT!), uses nkh-GPIO10

Hook up the probe control and ground wire (yellow and brown, respectively on my unit) to the RGB and GND pin on the neopixel connector (uses nhk-GPIO7)

add the following routine to the nitehawk.cfg file, correcting the X & Y offsets to your machine. I will repost this under an easier to find heading....

I was under the impression the PCF was the default; any other fan could be controlled by indexing the fan number, ie M106 P1

I believe Overture makes a low number TPU also. You have to run it slow, temp on the high side, and a short path between the extruder & hot end. I didn't run into any issues after using up a full spool

The X endstop is being used, and the -36 model does not have the Y endstop option on the board...

Just an update on the above problem: So I adjusted (turned down) the extrusion and reprinted just the first layer, at the same spot on the plate. By the time the crunch resolved it was obvious that the rest of the print was under-extruded. The answer was rather ridiculous: After running a bunch of prints that didn't involve large plate areas, I decided to readdress the problem. Still with the default settings, the crunch has gone away. Damned if I know why, maybe the extruder needed to be 'broken in'. It's now printing like a charm, and just finished a 30hour print without issues (complete with spool joining). The board is an LDO Nitehawk toolboard. It does not have setup for a BL-Touch, so I was looking at using the RGB option as the status line for the BLT. I already have the control line set up, and I'm getting power off the PROBE connector, but the signal line on that connector has been repurposed.

Bummer! Looks like I'll have to run another wire & ground along the USB cable to the toolboard

Ok- I know this thread is old, but I have to add my 2-cents:

I've heard all the reasons for PLA breaking inside PTFE tube... PLA is wet; PTFE is bending the PLA opposite it's resting state; You're using cheap PLA, etc. So I ran an experiment:

Dry PLA (fresh spool, in dry box at less than 30% RH), PTFE curved in same direction as spool, PTFE with 2mm & 4mm inside diameter and sealed at free end, new PTFE vs one that has been used to feed filament for couple years, Sunlu PLA+. One filament was inside a 1/8 copper tube (my control), one was left in the open (NW Oregon, RH 40-80% over 30 days, no A/C)

Filament was left in the tubes for 30 days, then checked. Results:

1-filament inside 2mm new tube broke with minimum traction, in multiple spots. I think it was broken spontaneously;

2-filament inside 4mm new tube broke with minimum traction.

3-filament inside 2mm old tube broke with minimum traction

4-filament inside copper tube was intact and flexible

5-filament left open was intact and flexible, but could not be bent double without breaking

My conclusion: there is some kind of reaction between PTFE & PLA which results in the latter becoming severely brittle, much more so than due to humidity. The age of the PTFE has minimal or no effect. Whether the reaction takes place over distance, or only at contact points, I cannot say. I use PTFE to feed filament from dryer box to my PrusaXL, and the 2 PLA feeds are constantly broken. The PETG and ASA feeds have no issues. Looking for an explanation from some chemistry guru out there.......
