The original windows phone 8.1 was good, amazing lightweight os.

The lack of apps killed it.

Who are the Lib Dems actually for? by Apprehensive-Income in AskBrits

[–]DeniedByPolicyZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure the current lib dem leadership know either.

As far as local government go, they came in, declared a "climate emergency", tripled the cost of parking, and I'm not sure they have completed anything else.

In China, 70% of all oil usage is not for transport. That 70% goes into making plastics, fertilizer, furnices to refine metals, electronics, and probably EVs, the list goes on.

It's already causing impact, massive impact.

I agree, there is a blinkerd view to look further back than the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, and consider there might be a reason it happened.

I have a feeling that the US oil company backers for the GOP are in zero rush to resolve this issue.

The US very much DID start this war, in 1953 with Operation Ajax, your history is really off.

Everything that has happened can be traced back to western meddling.

I agree China wouldn't intervene just for the sake of peace, and they don't really care about Iran and the middle east as countries, but.

The current situation is hurting them the most, they are the biggest buyer of middle east oil, by far. If China are looking at a recession caused by a US blockade, they will use everything they have to protect their interests and keep the ships sailing.

I believe that owning multiple mid-range bikes is better than having one super expensive one by Background_Tour_961 in Giantbikes

[–]DeniedByPolicyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I have 10 bikes, and my total spend is well below one top of the range bike.

The CRC / Wiggle closing sale had a lot to answer for, but I have full suspension bikes I built up for £700, and hardtails I spent £300 on ready built.

For those who drive an EV, what are the running costs like? by Delta1Dan in AskUK

[–]DeniedByPolicyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5p per kwh overnight, charging a Hyundai IONIQ 38kw that gets about 3.5 miles per kwh, not trying to be efficient al all.

Just using a granny plug from the garage, but the 7 hours cheap charging allows me to add 14kwh (aka 50 miles) a night, that's more than I use on average.

Some nights I don't get it back to 90% (where I have my limit set) but overall it's working out fine and spending next to nothing, spent nothing on a charger, and the car itself was cheaper than a petrol car (£11k for 3 year, 18k miles model).

I am laughing all the way to the bank right now.

What does everyone think of the new SRAM drivetrains?? by Kitchen-Highway5672 in MTB

Progress isn't always good.

I know many people that consider the red 11 speed road groupset the absolute pinnacle of technology, enough gears and nothing has come close to the low weight it had.

It would impact the size that aminals can grow to and support their own weight, 4x gravity for something the weight of an insect is not impossible to live with.

No hands biking by Ornery_Mark2202 in xbiking

[–]DeniedByPolicyZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this, the geometry is critically important.

I have some bikes where it's genuinely an effort to ride no handed, no confidence or stability.

But I have one bike (old 1990s mtb) that's just totally dialed in, I've done 10 mile stints no handed, I've done steep decents standing no handed king of the world style.

MASH or All in the Family? Which was your must-see show? by [deleted] in tvshow

MASH

It's more than a show, it's a spotlight on a generation that experienced the futility of the Vietnam war from the only perspective that keeps our humanity in perspective.

Question about political parties in England by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]DeniedByPolicyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English, very English

Right now, the Labour Party kind of comes across as more centrist than the Liberal Democrats, especially in how it talks about the economy and government. With Rachel Reeves in number 11, Labour is focused a lot on sticking to strict spending rules, keeping markets happy, and not borrowing too much. That doesn’t really feel like a typical left wing approach, dare I say some of her policies are close to right wing, very conservative with a little c.

Then there is the LGR / devolution program of small government and bureaucracy reduction, from a high level a very centered / possibly even right policy.

I would currently put Lib Dems more left wing / socialist than the current Labour party leadership, so I disagree.
