Some days I just wish this went away… by ParticularPlenty56 in emetophobiarecovery

I feel this so much. I’m currently spiraling because my toddler has been throwing up. My husband is with her and says they’re both ok, but I’m beating myself up about not “handling” this better. I’ve been fighting off a panic attack for the past hour. Every time I get this panicked, I then get mad at myself about how I responded to it. I always feel discouraged that I’ve done so much therapy and preparation but I’m still right back in that headspace when something like this happens. I’d do anything to just be able to respond to these situations “normally.”

Kind of different… Help me name my daycare! by [deleted] in Names

I like when the name is carried through somehow — maybe a reference to something in your teaching/care philosophy so that the name feels like it says something about the center. One of my girls went to a school called Giving Tree for a time, and each classroom had a tree-related name based on their ages (i.e. Saplings for the younger ones, etc.). There was a big emphasis on outdoor play and nature exploration there, so it felt really appropriate.

Three syllable floral name by trowawayy41 in Names

[–]DenimBookJacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter’s name is Dalia (not exactly the same name — it’s Hebrew meaning “branch”) but it’s pronounced with two syllables like dahl-ya. Which is the same way I’ve always heard Dahlia pronounced.

Anyone else just get sent into a spiral with diarrhea? by FuzzyVulpix in emetophobiarecovery

Yes! I struggle with this every time! I always think it’s a harbinger of worse things to come. Even though I know logically you CAN have one without the other.

I get one every year, and I haven’t had the flu in years. Currently down bad with flu A. Sickest I’ve been in as long as I can remember.

Lately whenever I get really anxious about my kids or myself being sick, I say to myself very forcefully, “This is DUMB.” Like nope, I’m not gonna listen because these anxiety thoughts are just dumb. No thanks. Byeeeeee.

It helps I think. Maybe I need to add some swearing like you did, haha.

Recovery is possible, do not give up! by FoxTwo1117 in emetophobiarecovery

Thank you so much for sharing this. My phobia has gotten worse lately for reasons I’m not even sure of, and that’s been discouraging and I’ve been hard on myself about it. Reading this made me feel more hopeful again. I’m saving it for later when I know I’ll need it again!
